About the Author
One of six children of a British Sergeant Major, we spent most of our life housed on army camps. It was on the camps the term “army brats “ became synonymous with “trouble”.
After gaining State Registered Nurse status, my husband and I emigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and began middleclass domesticity, raising two children, Lorraine and Richard.
After 22 years the marriage dissolved, I hopped into a “rebound” marriage in one years time, which lasted six years.
In the course of time, I found myself in a perilous situation. Coming up a staircase of my building one day, another occupant was coming down and in a belligerent manner told me to “get out of my way”.
In fear of being pushed down the stairs I prayed silently, within myself, Jesus save me. The threat from the top of the stairs disappeared into another room and I got out safely but not unchanged. The silent prayer had a changing effect that remained with me. This is when I became a follower of Jesus Christ, had become born again. To my dismay, my family chose to stay and not follow my new path.
The greatest burden to someone who has become born again, is the nearest and dearest not supporting your decision. That is when the book, Icing on the Cake, was written, so that I can leave “not one left behind”.
