One of the most difficult challenges of becoming a new Christian is finding sound advice on how to start one’s early walk in the basics of the Christian lifestyle. There are scores of books on the Bible, but the vast majority are for the mature Christians. Where are the books that lay out the basic for the newcomer? For the beginner in the faith, how often have you heard the advice from the church leaders and members, “What you need to do next is get into a good church and start reading your Bible.” You’ve been there before and so have I. Oftentimes, this advice is a simple way of saying, “I’m not willing to take you under my wing at this time, but someone in your local church will give you good advice.” In some cases, you may have met someone to help you with your journey, but they are only able to meet you one night during the week when you’re working a second job. Your schedules just don’t seem to fit. Or perhaps, you may have received a church elder who is willing to spend the time, but you don’t seem to relate to that person due to a host of factors—age difference, culture, gender, or their peculiar mannerisms. About the Author
Tina Toguchi is a writer who has spent most of her career in the medical profession and as a mother raising two children. She has had extensive experience working as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at the University of Charlottesville, Virginia Hospital. A person with deep compassion, Tina has spent over a decade providing hospice services and as an early childhood teacher espousing Christian values in an Episcopal church in Virginia. Tina is happily married and lives with her husband in Vass, North Carolina.
