Gather Ye Sheep

As I was driving my car to Monroe, Louisiana, on October 28, 2004, at about 5:00 a.m. with my daughter Clara, I looked down to grab my cup of coffee. I looked up, and the fog had moved in and was so thick I could not see the road! I screamed, “Where did the road go?” I literally could not see a thing. It was still dark. The fog was so terribly thick. I heard a voice say within my being, Turn the wheel a quarter of a turn. I simultaneously thought, I don’t know what a quarter of a turn is and what direction. We must be right out of the woods. We must be where the little curve in the road is. This all happened so quickly! My hands on the steering wheel moved counterclockwise as if someone took ahold of my hands and the steering wheel and turned it! We then went down an embankment, and the car came to a stop.

Clara and I were surely saved that day by the Holy Spirit, who intervened in our behalf. I didn’t hear an audible voice outside of my head; Clara Beth did not hear any voice. It was the Holy Spirit speaking to me within my being. I felt a presence upon my hands, guiding my hands in the turn; otherwise, how would I have done what needed to be done so quickly without hesitation? I am so grateful that we did not hit someone else that day! I am so glad that we didn’t hit the telephone pole, and that Clara nor I had any negative side effects from the accident that day. I think about it every time I pass that intersection. I give thanks to God, the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit for guiding me every step of the way and for loving us enough to be with us when things could have turned out so incredibly different. I believe that this is why I am led to share my testimony with you—because I was once a person who did not believe in the power of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, or in the power of prayer, nor did I know anything about the love of God. But that has all changed now.
