"IT’S HARD TO be a woman!" she sighed. The plight of women carves an indelible trail of pain down through human history. For the most part, ancient Near Eastern literature viewed women as unnecessary property and just as people who are fascinated and preoccupied with their beauty. Unfortunately, Israel’s track record as the nation prepared to move into Canaan was still stained with discrimination against women. Five sisters, Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah (Num. 26:33) took this ugly problem to Moses (Num. 27:1–5). They were frustrated. Right there on the Plains of Moab, in the presence of Eleazar the priest, the leadership of the nation, and all of the people, the sisters made their complaint a public spectacle. As they shared their story, it became apparent that these sisters did not have a father, a brother, or any other close male relative to help them. They represented themselves.
Many individuals, both women and men in our contemporary world are trapped in ugly situations that are not of their own making. What we need today are people who think clearly about their awkward situations and take appropriate actions to resolve such untoward circumstances. People
are needed today who will break the impasse and usher in change and new life.
It is important to keep in mind the goal we want to achieve. If it be a race, we want to finish the race. We want to finish strong. If it be schooling, we want to get the qualification. If we embark on a journey, we want to get to our destination.
Once the human mind is set on accomplishing something, experience has taught us that there are bound to be obstacles along the way. Obstacles can be positively utilized to assess our progress, sharpen our focus,
plan new strategies, and utilize our resources well. The journey must be completed. For those of us who are aiming for heaven, we must press on until we get there.
While we wait during this time of the end, Satan bombards us with trials and temptations. However, the Holy Spirit equips and empowers us to navigate these challenges in the strength of Christ. Our loving God educates us daily to depend upon His grace. Jesus fills us with joy and hope as we wait for the “crossing over” into heaven. What thrills us most is that it will not be long before we get our deliverance! “Our God shall surely come and He shall not keep silent” (Ps. 50:3).

The inquisitive mind on how things shall turn out will find in this book helpful insights that inspire hope and preparedness for the future.
