Cottage in the Woods

It was the middle of December and all around it looked like a winter wonderland. Everything outside was covered with snow. As Raelynn looked outside the car window, she was amazed at the sight. She approached the cottage and it started to lightly snow all around her. The cottage was set back in the woods of Northern Wisconsin and had a mile long driveway. This was her favorite time of the year and she always spent it with her family at their cottage over Christmas break. It was her little hideaway from the real world. Raelynn could remember coming here for the first time when she was a young child. The cottage had become a little run down, but her father could fix anything. It was a small cottage that, on the outside, looked like it was made from logs. Inside, it had a small living space, kitchen and a full bathroom. Upstairs were the bedrooms, and there were only three. Over the years, her parents had remodeled each bedroom, so that it would feel larger inside. Her absolute favorite part of it all was the wooden railing along the side of the stairs. It looked just like you had taken the bark right off of the tree and cut it down a little and put it in the cottage. It had been a few Christmases since her whole family was there.
