What the label, “Christian disciple,” has come to mean today may be somewhat nebulous for many of us. As a result, our very essential “spiritual identity” as a “Christian disciple” is confused at best, and, if the truth were known, some of us border on spiritual schizophrenia.
For many today, being a “Christian disciple” has come to mean being a “church attendee,” whenever convenient. For others, it may mean being a regular church “spectator,” observing from the sidelines whatever is going on in our local church congregation. For some, being a “Christian” just means being numbered with the church congregation being enthusiastically “entertained” for an hour each week. While for others, being a “Christian” may mean being numbered as one of the “entertainers,” themselves (such as being a speaker, singer, usher, leader, server, and the like), providing a “worthwhile” Christian experience for the others in attendance.
In writing this book, it has been my sincere desire and intent to:
- provide a more “biblical identity” for the true “Christian,”
- provide a clear understanding of the Christian’s “purpose” and “mission,”
- facilitate a growing, healthy, fruitful, and effective “walk” as a genuine “DISCIPLE” of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
- and, to thoroughly equip such true disciples, that they may become what God intended a “disciple” to be…powerful and spiritual warriors who are “armed and dangerous” regarding the devil and his hordes, yet peaceful, radical “lovers” of God and all humanity. In so doing, such true disciples may become adequate, skillful, and competent ambassadors who honestly “represent” the King of all kings everywhere they go.
Such “true” disciples are trained and equipped to operate effectively in the righteous and supernatural ways of Jesus, moving in faith, love, power, and authority, and thus reproducing the same glorious results, for His name sake…“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Listen to the words Jesus used to describe the operation of faith and effective power of the “true disciple” in prayers, in ministry, and in life itself, for all those who would really “follow” His lead.
“Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany,
Jesus was hungry. And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves,
He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it.
When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves,
for it was not the season for figs.
In response, Jesus said to it,
‘Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.’”
“Now in the morning, as they passed by,
they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
Peter said to Jesus,
‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.’
So Jesus said to them,
‘Have faith in God’
(and you can do it, too).
For assuredly, I say to you,
Whoever says to this mountain,
‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’
and does not doubt in his heart,
but believes that those things he says will be done,
he will have whatever he says.
Therefore, I say to you,
‘whatever things you ask when you pray,
believe that you receive them,
and you will have them.’”
(Mark 11:12-14, & 20-24, emphasis and comment added)
Although it may not be directly spoken out loud, our attitude toward such “fantastic” pronouncements in the Scriptures about the Lord’s sincere desire and legitimate authorization for His disciples to work true “miracles” is often, “Surely, Jesus, You jest! You do not really mean such things, do You? Perhaps, Lord, You may have been ‘misquoted.’ Maybe You were just ‘kidding around’ with Your disciples that day by the fig tree. Otherwise, Your science appears to be seriously flawed, as is Your credibility. Don’t you know, Jesus, no one really takes such pronouncements seriously today.”
Come on, you know I’m speaking the truth! Yet, according to this passage of scripture, Jesus was NOT just “flapping His righteous gums” when He said such a thing.
Instead, using a fig tree, Jesus was earnestly trying to teach His disciples (including you and me) to DO what He did…FOLLOWING HIS “WAYS,” and PUTTING HIS INSTRUCTIONS TO WORK IN OUR LIVES.
The true miracles of salvation, life-transformation, healing, and deliverance (just to name a few), are all exceedingly encouraging, exciting, edifying, and “full-of-Life” experiences we all crave! Such miracles are all supernatural manifestations of God’s love, promise, authority, and power. They are imbued with the glory of Jesus Christ alone!
Who among us would not sincerely desire to experience such miracles in our lives, and in our local church congregations? Who would not desire to fellowship among supernaturally empowered disciples, who work miracles when they pray…healing the sick, casting out devils, and raising the dead wherever they go. Such disciples actually DO the things Jesus said we must do?
Being a “mountain moving disciple” means casting-down spiritual strongholds, breaking and removing demonic powers and assignments, healing diseases, bringing deliverance, providing resources, and sharing divine wisdom, in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, whom we represent.
HOW do we walk this out as true disciples? How do we experience what has been promised in God’s Word?
The goal of this book is to answer those questions, and help every disciple to grow into becoming a mighty and miraculous, “mountain mover!” The chapters have been grouped into sections, each relating to “moving” the mountains in our lives. They are:
- The God of a “mountain mover.”
- The mission of a “mountain mover.”
- The faith of a “mountain mover.”
- The power of a “mountain mover.”
- The arsenal of a “mountain mover.”
- The prayer of a “mountain mover.”
- The love of a “mountain mover.”
In the mighty words of Jesus, quoted in Matthew’s Gospel, chapter 17:20; “For assuredly, I say to you, IF you have faith as a mustard seed, YOU will SAY to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and IT WILL MOVE; and nothing will be IMPOSSIBLE for YOU!’”
