I stood trembling in the presence of Grace as Sierra emerged from the front door. Despite the cold December wind, she wasn’t wearing a jacket or shoes. Her hair was longer since the last time I’d seen her, and she maintained the atomic beauty that held me captive all these years.

About the Book
When Jordan returned home from Baghdad with a Purple Heart, he was hiding a deep secret that contradicted his honorable discharge. In the eyes of Sierra’s daughter Karis (which means, ‘Grace’), Jordan would be confronted with the reality that there is no shame so deep that love cannot reach.
In this achingly beautiful memoir, Jordan wrestles with the tension of wanting to be truly known and loved despite the carnage of addiction. His ferocious fears of abandonment have been reinforced over the years, and if people knew the truth of his regrets – he resolves, it would sabotage the only love he has ever known. The choice to come clean in confession could have nuclear consequences, but then again… the cancer of self-hatred has been suffocating his freedom for years. In the end, the castle of grace has a big front door, and everyone is welcome... no matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been.
About the Author
Jay DePoy is a criminally convicted recipient of scandalous grace. As a spiritually limping, recovering Pharisee, he has become a sought-after voice of reason in a religious subculture gone mad. He is the founding pastor of Lakeshore Church in Muskegon, Michigan as well as Exodus Church in Asheville, North Carolina.
Jay is a graduate of Grand Valley State University (BA in Sociology) and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary of Cornerstone University (MA in Ministry Leadership).
