NAOMI
Esther.
ESTHER
(Stops painting)
Yes, Naomi?
NAOMI
Please call me Mara. I was wondering. Why that colour?
ESTHER
I admire your curiosity.
(Takes a seat)
The answer lies in Psalms 23:1-2.
REBEKAH
(Stands up)
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in GREEN pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” you're welcome.
(Sits down)
RUTH
Ah I see. You used the scripture to give you an idea. Very clever.
LYDIA
I still don't see why you needed gloves, and a different set of brushes for that.
DEBORAH
(Sarcastically)
Obviously your brushes weren't good enough for our majesty.
ESTHER
Deborah, again with such hostility?
DEBORAH
Just making an observation...So queeny, please do tell us why you-
JEZEBEL
(Stands up)
-Wrong all wrong! All of it wrong, wrong, wrong. Esther. Speaking from personal experience I know for a fact that Pastors aren't green.
REBEKAH
Open your ears Jezebel. It says pastures, not Pastors.
JEZEBEL
Oh...carry on.
(Sits down)
REBEKAH
You're welcome.
RUTH
Why don't you all take pointers from Esther and use the scriptures to your advantage?
NAOMI
Then what will we do about the colours orange and pink?
LYDIA
Simple. Don't use them.
DEBORAH
(Stands up with painting tools and walks towards the canvas)
ESTHER
And thus, the artistic urges take play.

About the Book
This play is a collection of character-inspired Christian plays I’ve written to be performed in churches and in theatres. It includes characters like Mary Magdalene, Samson, Hezekiah, Naomi, Esther, Ruth, and many more.
About the Author
Ever since I was 8 years old, I enjoyed telling stories. I’d make funny stories, I’d make sad stories, but I was always told that I was an excellent story teller. Little did I know, this would hold true for the rest of my life. As an aspiring Pastor, I make it my mission to follow the will of God and not my own, showing my love by praying, fasting, reading his word regularly, and of course by honouring my father and my mother. They were the first people to ever listen to my stories and would always give me an honest critique afterwards. For as long as I can remember, they always encouraged me to follow my dreams and aim to become what I wanted to be. The problem was, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to be in life. It was through high school, while taking drama classes that I realized what I really wanted to become. You see, I was writing scripts without abandon. The inspiration would hit me and I’d take off, and jot down the ideas. After school was over, I’d start to test some ideas for character interactions and settings. I just loved writing scripts. Some may have even said I was going crazy. To them I’d say “True love doesn’t make you crazy, it keeps you sane.” A lot of years and even more love was put into it, so I hope you love reading it, as much as I loved writing it.
