I began writing this book ten years ago when I was staying at a long-term treatment facility for addiction. It occurred to me at the time that not much had been written for those recovering from dual diagnosis. I sensed that many struggling with dual diagnosis had very little hope for recovery as the revolving door of fixing the mental illness with medication often swings back open when the self-medication of substance abuse starts again, leaving the patient on a merry-go-round of sorts that never ends.
My 18-year journey through mental illness and my 20-year struggle with addictions have taught me several valuable lessons: 1) no one's program of treatment looks the same; 2) no one can help another human being until they're ready for help; and 3) lastly, but most importantly, the Lord Jesus Christ is the Deliverer. Programs like Celebrate Recovery and Addicts Victorious focus on the power of God to change lives, enabling us to overcome obstacles too large for any of us to surmount.
It is my hope that this collection of daily reflections and poems encourage not only those struggling with mental illness and/or addictions, but also those family and friends who want insight into how best to support their loved ones.

About the Book
This devotional and poetry book is a collection of inspirational personal stories and thoughts on the Scripture that influenced her as she battled dual diagnosis: bipolar and addiction. Both individuals with these ailments and those who support them will benefit from the insight from this book.
About the Author
Rebecca Hargrove has been living with bipolar disorder for 18 years as an adult, and is a recovering alcoholic/addict. Her undergraduate degree in Journalism is from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and her master’s degree is in Teaching English As A Second Language from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. She is a writer, artist, and cook extraordinaire for family and friends. She is a member of the local chapter of Depression Bipolar Support Alliance and attends Celebrate Recovery, a ministry for those recovering from life’s hurts, hang-ups, and habits.
