About the Book

This book is a combination of many experiences. It is an autobiography of a portion of nearly twenty-five years of the author’s life. The stories are also a travelogue of places visited and new friends made, but most importantly, it is a book written to encourage others to be open to the leading of the Lord.

The book follows the author’s growth as a Christian, from an almost reluctant participant in mission work to an eager worker for the Lord. It relates many eye-opening experiences of places and people, projects and missions both in and out of country.

The book is soul-touching, heart-warming, miracle-sharing, and hopefully, encouraging. At times funny, at other times serious, but always with eye-opening wonder, the book shares the many years of experiences of the author doing work for the Lord. It shows the growth of his faith, the strengthening of his beliefs, and the encouragement he has felt by letting the Lord use him in whatever way He can.

About the Author

Roy Cerny is a quiet, service-oriented guy who loves to help people. He finds joy in working to meet the needs of others. He is a veteran of short-term mission trips to Jamaica, Paraguay, Nepal, Mexico, and five different areas of Chile.
These trips involved church and home construction, evangelism, street ministry, teaching, and assisting missionaries and church leaders in each of the countries. In the United States, he and his friends traveled to storm-ravaged New Jersey to help rebuild homes. He also participated in numerous projects at his district Bible camp as well as helped with projects at his local church.
Now in his seventies, Roy feels the need to share his experiences in a book with the hope that others might experience the changes he has seen in his own life. These stories of his trips and projects, told chronologically, portray the growth of his faith as he opened himself up to be a useful instrument for the Lord. What he has seen and done, as told through his short stories, will hopefully build in the reader a desire to experience the life changes a mission trip can provide. The author is so emotionally tied to many of the experiences he depicts that he finds it difficult to relate the stories without tearing up from the memories. It is his hope that you will also find joy and satisfaction in letting the Lord take you where He needs you to be.
