Chapter 1: Kingdom Key
It was never up to me, to write this book. I was told to. Now I have found out that I have the beautiful responsibility of writing it.
I have been given many things and I have received them, but you can’t receive fully without giving fully. So here, I give fully and so does God. God loves you and wants to give you the best things that come from His heart. I pray every word in this book will be maximized in your life, regenerating, reviving and growing you to be the best you can be.
One hot summer day, over a year ago, I was walking along a dirt road leading away from the beach. The day was over on the beach at Bible camp, but a new journey was just beginning. As a pebble is dropped into a glass of water, ‘plop’, and then sits there at the bottom, sits there, sits there, are these two words that the Lord placed on my heart that day. Holy passion. In an instant, two words rocked my world, leaving me unable to return to the state it was in before.
What was holy passion, you might ask? I had yet to find out. I have yet to find out. The search began.
Within the year, my prayer became “fill me with holy passion”. I was hungry after what the Lord wanted to give me. I began asking different people and leaders in my life, if they could define holy passion for me. I myself had no preconceptions on the topic and my feelings were that holy passion was so big that it may be almost indefinable. I mean, holiness is huge, and passion is wild. Putting the two together is a huge and wild thing. Even now, over a year and a half later I still wonder sometimes whether or not my prayers have been answered. I don’t yet feel they have been accomplished. But can they in a year? Or will this be even bigger than that? What do you think holy passion is? How would you define it? I asked many people, pastors, and friends, until one day I got an answer that sounded solid. It read: a soldier is “a covenanted warrior exercising holy passion to win the world for Jesus.”
Rather than defining holy passion, this statement gave a calling to holy passion. Holy passion is given for the purpose of winning the world for Jesus. It’s this peculiar combination of holiness and passion in someone’s life that creates the fire in the soul that is required for living out the call of evangelism. I deducted that once a Jesus-follower is filled with holy passion, it’s as if their hearts ignite for the lost, the hurting, and the broken of the world. It must be what Jesus had. Jesus must have lived holy passionately in the pursuit of God and His ultimate plan for the world. Holy passion must be rooted in radical love and faith, that nothing is impossible with God. The world as it is needs hope. Holy passion put into action is a life displaying hope that there is another way to live and ultimately that hope is found only in Jesus Christ. Holy passion must therefore be a movement of believers, unified together, not living it alone, but within community who are committed to living drastically for Jesus. Can you hear Jesus calling us to live in such a way?
I believe God has big plans for this generation, and he wants to give us holy passion for him to rise up and do them. I want to see his plans happen. I want to see his kingdom unfold. I want to see you and other believers around the world loving and simply doing the will of God. I don’t want anyone to miss out on the best journey and the hardest journey of their lives: following Jesus. It’s my prayer that this book will change your life, or in the least, a part of your life. There’s nothing sweeter than seeing someone grow in their love relationship with Jesus, and then seeing fruit in their life that changes the world. This book will be a tool for you, given by the Spirit to be light in dark places, to stand up for justice, to proclaim and live the gospel. But more than just a tool, holy passion will be a lifestyle you’ll never want to give up! I guarantee it! And have I mentioned, this book is for everyone?
Hopefully, this was an inspiring enough to have you read further. I think there is something for everyone within. And on a personal note, I sincerely pray for you, friends, brothers and sisters, that you will be given an even greater message than the written out as you read. I believe in a relational and intimate God who speaks and I suspect the Holy Spirit will confirm many dreams and visions during this journey you’re about to engage in, as well as answer any questions you may have lingering. I guarantee this book will have you seeing things differently, thinking differently, praying differently, and living differently. I know it has for me.

It’s for those who are unsatisfied with allowing darkness, injustice, and hopelessness to enslave people and who want to be part of a counter-culture attack that brings true freedom. Now, is this book for you?
I will say this: We need you. We need as many people as we can get to join a generation that is called to action.
Do you know Jesus and are seeking what it means to follow Him in a deeper, more radical way? Are you looking for ways to make your faith come alive? Do you want your life to have meaning? Have you longed to see God’s kingdom come? Is your soul hungry for more? Will you be willing to give whatever it takes to see transformation come to you and the people around you? In my own reflection to answer all these questions, I believe there is a key. It is something called holy passion. It’s a holy passion for Jesus that fills you and causes movement in ways you have never experienced before.
Embrace a new journey of holy passion in action. It will be one you will never forget.
