Roman hears a bird chirping and notices s a white dove siting on the trestle looking down on the ceremony.
Sydney hears the bird and looks up.
Instinctively, she reaches over and gently pats Kathy’s shoulder.
Becky, who also heard the bird looks up towards Sydney and begins to walk over to her daughter.
Sydney leans over towards Kathy saying,
“Kathy, Look, a white dove…Jesus has forgiven you Kathy and wants to love you. And I forgive and I love you Kathy.”
“Don’t you love Jesus, Kathy?”
Becky nearly breaks down in tears as she overhears her daughter and watches as she reaches over and hugs Kathy.
Kerri has also overhead Sydney and looks up to see the dove looking right at her…it does not look away as the dove seems to be staring at her; waiting for her to make a decision.
Grandma Trudy can hardly hold back her emotions as she sees two young girls step up and come forward.
Two more girls step forward after them, and come to the stage. One by one all of the girls come forward towards the stage.
“Praise God! Praise God!” Grandma Trudy cries out.
She looks up as she cries out and sees the little dove still sitting there.
The symbolism of Jesus’ love is not missed.
Kerri Williams and Kathy Barnhart kneel in front of the stage, tears flowing as all of the girls circle and kneel around them.
Grandma Trudy, who is now so excited she wants to leap for joy, steps around Tiffany’s chair and sits on the edge of the stage in front of the girls, next to her granddaughter.
“Kerri and Kathy, this is a big step for the two of you. I know only that the two of you have been fighting against what the Lord has already been doing within you.”
“Tiffany and I have been praying for both of you leading up to this ceremony. It is not a surprise the Holy Spirit has moved inside of you and you have chosen to step forward.”
“He brought a white dove above us to symbolize His commitment and love.”
“Kerri, why did you step forward sweetie?”
“Because just going to church is not enough. I want to have that personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I don’t want to go through eternity wishing I had made a commitment.”
“Kathy, why did you step forward?”
“I see what Tiffany has…her joy…her happiness; and I want to have that kind of relationship with Jesus Christ.”
Kathy turns to look at Sydney.
“I see Sydney who loves me even though I treated her badly. I know now I am not good enough on my own. I need Jesus in my life. I need to change who I am on the inside.”
With that answer, Grandma Trudy puts on hand on Kathy’s shoulder.
“Child…that is how we all should feel.”
“Kerri, Kathy, would you both pray with me, asking Jesus Christ to fill that void you have in your lives, and to create in you a new creation?”
Both girls bow their heads.
Grandma Trudy looks up to see Kerri’s parents, tears in both their eyes. “Mom, dad, would you like to join your daughter here?”
They waste no time walking to the stage, and kneeling with their daughter. The other girls spread out making room for Kerri’s mom and dad next to her.
Grandma Trudy continues as she puts her hands on both Kathy and Kerri’s shoulders. “If you will please pray with me this prayer…”
“I confess that to God that I am a sinner, and fall short of the righteousness and glory of God. I believe the wages of my sins confine me to an eternal death without God. I now profess and believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and rose for my justification. Because of His sacrifice, I am now a child of God, written in His book of Life forever. I am a new creation, no longer chained to the person I was before.”
