The Heart of the Matter
The heart of the matter is the heart of gold;
A warm heart, soft heart, not a heart that is cold.
A big heart, kind heart, a heart of compassion;
The heart of the earth, a heavenly mansion.
A heart that will care, a heart that will feel;
For other’s distresses, not a heart of steel.
The heart of the matter is the heart of God.
We must walk like Christ where He had trod.
The heart of the matter is to have a good heart,
A heart of love that will never depart.
1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through
the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart.

Shepherd of the Sheepfold
In through the narrow gate we must trod with care.
The world’s muddy prints we can’t leave behind;
For we are not perfect when entering the fold.
His open arms still welcome us for He is kind.
The Shepherd knows His flock when they call.
Their voice echoes through the valley green.
Through thicket and briars of life’s struggling journey;
We have a Shepherd for now who is unseen.
Take comfort friend. You are not alone.
The Shepherd’s staff will guide you through.
He is longsuffering, not willing for you to perish.
We have a God who is love, and He loves you.

About the Author
Irene spent many years in a children’s home in Liverpool, England, where she was born. She also lived in New Zealand for four years and then returned back to England. Eventually, Irene became a nurse and later met her dear husband, a Vietnam vet. Irene is a widow. She has two grandchildren. Irene has two sisters. She lost her only daughter to illness.
Irene is a strong, compassionate woman. Simply expressed, she has a beautiful heart and a sweet spirit.
