Focus on Journey
How ought we to live our lives? What is a basic expectation of Journey and of what importance is it to an individual? Finally, what are the guidelines, if any, of expected successful Journey and or walking on the right path?
How ought we to live our lives? These question might have a different meaning for different people. And depending on different beliefs and religion people might term to lean toward their religion in answering these question.Regardless that every individual, especially adults make a decision on how to live their lives. Christians are expected to live in a certain way as great ambassadors promoting their faith and belief in Christ. The book of Ephesians 5: 1 urges us to “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” To God, we are all children in his sight regardless of age; he expects that as his children, we should know that he loves us with unconditional love that is why he went to the extent to sacrifice his only son that we might have life in abundance. He expects that we should also extend the love he extended to us to our fellow men.
Living in love entails living in peace with one another, people around us, at work, home, business, community, etc. When you develop a heart of love toward others, then you will find it difficult to do anything that will constitute pain or harm to others.
Living a life of love, helps you be mindful of your actions in your day to day interactions with people around you, be it in school, church, work, surrounding neighbor and even in your family or friend circle. Love covers a multitude of sin. The mind of love will help you be calculative in your dealings and act of journey in life.
As you journey through life, the treatment you receive will rub off on the way you treat others directly or indirectly. However, you are encouraged to overlook the way you are treated, if you receive bad treatment from people, you are encouraged to respond with love that way, you will be holding the banner of God high and let the world know that Christians differ from every other-regarding behaviors and expectations. While exhibiting love, you should not intentionally, put yourself in harm’s way. Always know when to separate yourself from a situation that will put you in harm’s way.
Whatever path you decide to take in life, it should be that path that gives life, peace, comfort and love. The Bible tells us that the greatest commandment of all is to love one another.
The most important thing in the cause of any one’s journey is the impact made by people and memories left behind at every point in one’s life through different processes in one’s lifetime. These memories people held the most valuable and remembered of an individual after one’s demise. On a larger scale, in any setting you find yourself, you will always be interacting with people directly or indirectly be it family, friends, co-workers, strangers, etc. As well as making and leaving prints of pieces of you behind. No doubt, wherever you are at any point in life, you leave your footprints and leave pieces of you behind.
Some people might think that the only time, they leave a legacy, is when they have made it in life, be in a position of authority, power and or financially of the cause. Yes, that might be a tip of the ice when one work so hard, is “successful” and probably leave money and property behind for loved ones and or donate to philanthropic organizations.
It does not matter whether you are rich or poor, every man that passes through the earth, leaves a footprint behind. That is what count the most, the values in your lives that are perceived while you are alive and will be remembered when you are gone. Those are the most valuable part of your life. These are the intrinsic beauty that is innate (inborn) that is worth much more than rubies.
You might be a millionaire, be powerful, hold a high position and be ruthless. Which means you might treat people under you without pity, mercilessly, harsh, cold blood, etc. for such a person, really there is nothing to learn from him, and I doubt that he will be missed when his no more.
Some people who are ruthless are simply cruel, such Leaders or people abuse human right especially when they treat innocent people in a despicable way as if these people are their properties. They seem to forget that while in office they are supposed to lead by providing and defending the right of people they govern.
The most important thing is despite being seen as a successful individual, how else is the person perceived by the larger world and all the people and strangers whom he has interacted with over the years. What was this person’s principles, values, actions, as seen in public life and private? Was the public life one of upholding or putting a front to the world showing what the world wanted to see? And the private life far different from what the public knows? One of shame and secrecy? The Book of Hebrews 4:13 states “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” “The Path” lets us have an opportunity to reevaluate our lifestyle, deeds, and actions, prospective and possibly see where we are and make a U-Turn away from the secret lifestyle, repent and refocus our energy on finding our true self and the purpose for which we are truly created. Which is to serve the Lord and represent him in all that we do here on earth.
