As a Christian, counterfeit relationships are the most destructive kinds of counterfeits you will encounter. The devil will offer you counterfeit friends, counterfeit mentors, counterfeit pastors, counterfeit husbands, and counterfeit wives. The devil has created, designed, and purposed counterfeit people to plant them in your life. His goal is to destroy you and to get you off the track to your destiny. The devil knows that if he can keep wrong people in your life, wrong things will keep happening. And whatever you do, don’t fall in-love with a counterfeit. If you fall in-love with a counterfeit, you have not fallen in-love with someone sent by God; you have fallen in-love with someone sent by the devil.
As long as you hang out with counterfeits, your life will never be in perfect peace. You will have battles and troubles that you shouldn’t have to deal with. Life can become very chaotic when you have wrong people in your life because you’re attempting to make someone fit into your life who should never have been there in the first place. This person doesn’t fit into your purpose or your design. In many cases, we don’t even like the counterfeits, but if our thinking is flawed or negative, we may still allow them to stick around.
The scriptures speak about a man named Jonah. God instructed Jonah to go and talk to the people of Nineveh. Jonah didn’t like the people of Nineveh, so instead of going there, he decided to go to a place called Tarshish. On his way to Tarshish, he came across a captain and crew who were about to board a boat. Jonah boarded the boat with the captain and his crew in an attempt to flee from God. While they were at sea, a violent storm arose. The captain of the ship began to realize that the storm was supernatural, and it was happening because there was someone on the ship who should not have been there. The crew tried everything to save themselves. They threw cargo overboard to lighten the load. They prayed, but nothing worked. Jonah eventually stood up and said, “This storm is happening because of me.” When the crew threw Jonah off the ship, the counterfeit who should have never been in their lives in the first place, the sea calmed down. When you throw counterfeit people off the ship of your life, your sea will calm down as well. A simple boat trip became chaotic because of one wrong person on that ship. How much more peaceful would your life become if you relieved your life of one wrong person?
