She was almost to her car, pulling her jacket on as she walked. The breeze was a little chilly on this September night. Louise hadn’t noticed that someone had come up behind her.
“Do all Americans shove a gift back in the givers face?”
She turned at his question, surprised he had followed her out. He strode the rest of the way to her.
“I didn’t give it back. You took it back with your own words.” Louise turned again and finished walking to her car, tried to get in, but was stopped. “Let go of my door, Sir, for you have no right to keep me from leaving.” She thought about the pepper spray in her purse.
“I will not let you go until this conversation is finished.”
Louise was mad. “And I will not speak anymore to a masked man. Remove your scarf or remove your hand. Why do you hide behind it?”

Heather Earles is an up-and-coming fiction author who shares her passion for Christ with others through her writing. Heather grew up in the Midwest and now resides in North Dakota with her husband and three children.
