Romans 5:20 (The Message) “….But sin didn’t, and doesn’t have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it’s sin versus grace, grace wins hands down.”

Time out. I’ve reread “…the aggressive forgiveness we call grace…” over and over and I’m floored every time. I’ve never thought about describing grace like that. It’s like this: I think of grace as a cuddly warm blanket that God wraps us in because we are the shivering cold dog shaking from being wet and outside in the snow. (dibs on being the Shiba Inu Pup) But when I think about calling it “aggressive forgiveness,” I imagine how passionate God is for us, and He is just arms wide open yelling, “I LOVE YOU! I FORGIVE YOU! THERE’S NOTHING THAT CAN SEPARATE YOU FROM MY LOVE!!!” and I get all goosebumpy. Then I picture Him fighting for us against the enemy and claiming us as His children. That aggressive forgiveness just blows my mind!

The dictionary defines grace as simple elegance or something like that. PSHHH! God’s grace is full of love and passion and desire to allow us to walk with Him and accept His grace and, in turn, pour it out to others. Instead of giving out warm grace blankets to cold puppies, maybe we should show passionate grace, full of love and excitement. I’m not exactly sure what that looks like just yet, but I guess it’s different for everyone. For me, that means repairing old relationships and loving the unlovable.

What does it look like for you to show aggressive forgiveness aka GRACE?
