All Children Need a Father
Is There a Father in You?
The year was 1997. Jimmy was on his way to work. He had the same routine every day. He would get up at four am, fix coffee and buttery toast while the car was already started and warming up. It was the middle of winter and he had the auto start on his ride.
Now for the past couple of weeks he saw the same child walking along the sidewalk and he would think whose child is this walking the streets at this time of the morning, every morning. But he never said anything to him nor did he call anyone or do anything for the child who seemed to be only about 9 or 10. Jimmy was pretty well off and thought not my problem.
Now Jimmy was a family man with a loving wife and two young children. Now Jimmy let his wife take care of the house hold and really had little to do with the rearing of the children. After all he brought home the money. After arriving at work one Monday he talked to a coworker about the young child he sees walking past his house every morning at the same time.
So Bob the coworker and a good friend said did you talk with him to see if you could help him out or find out why he's out this time of morning. He replies hey man it's not my business. Jimmy's children were Lil Jimmy 13 and Troy 10. His wife of 16 years came to him one day and said that Lil Jimmy was getting in trouble in school and was suspended for fighting with another student he said owed him money. Big Jimmy played it off by saying he's just like me, I stayed in trouble to, but I turned out OK. It’s just three days out of school, I'll talk to him he said.
Not knowing Lil Jimmy sold drugs at school and was somewhat of a bully. After a couple of months past He stopped seeing the little child walking in the morning. It gave him a strange feeling inside but he soon thought of it no more. One-week later Jimmy got a call at work from his wife saying Lil Jimmy was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and distribution on school grounds.
His heart broken and in tears just could not understand what happened to his perfect family or so he thought. Now Lil Jimmy was sent away to a juvenile facility and life at home continued. Jimmy eventually went back to his daily routine and once again the little child was walking past his home but this time he stopped and turned to Jimmy and said good morning sir.
Jimmy replied good morning who are you and why are you out at this time in the morning. The child said my name is Jimmy like your son. Do you remember that first night you saw me I was running away from home and you thought it not your business was out this time in the morning?
I made it about eight blocks from here before I was hit by a car and killed on that same morning. My spirit would continue to pass by here that you would begin to pay attention to your surroundings and start showing love to everyone. We must take our children back from these streets, they will only bury them. Lil Jimmy is gone but unlike me he lives and needs his father. And then the child was gone, never to be seen again.
