Jesus is Baptized
Throughout the New Testament, baptism is represented as the means for obtaining real objective effects, with God as their cause, not just as a symbolic act. Matthew 28:19 is the only recorded direct command of Jesus regarding baptism and Christians have clearly practiced baptism since a very early date, which strongly suggests that they believed it to be the will of the Lord:
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.", Mathew 28:19,NIV
Jesus sought out John the Baptist to baptize him in the Jordan River to represent the willingness of the sinless Son of God to set an example. He did not confess sin, as others did, for he had none to confess but he prayed, as others did, and kept up communion with God the Father. Just as He didn’t have to die, so He didn’t have to be baptized until He became the bearer of all our sins. The following describes Jesus after being baptized:
"And when Jesus was baptized , He went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on Him", Matthew 3:16, Luke 3:21-22, NIV
Doves have been important in Christian churches, for they are harmless, peaceful birds which came to be used as a symbol of The Holy Spirit.
The Orion Nebula
Directly below the Orion Belt in the universe is the Great Orion Nebula (or Messier 42), as shown in the image. It shows a more detailed view of the Orion Nebula captured by the NASA Hubble Telescope. Notice that the Orion Nebula appears to be in the shape of a dove.
This dramatic image offers a peek inside a cavern of roiling dust and gas where thousands of stars are forming. The image, taken by the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) aboard NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, represents the sharpest view ever taken of this region. More than 3,000 stars of various sizes appear in this image. Some of them have never been seen in visible light. These stars reside in a dramatic dust-and-gas landscape of plateaus, mountains, and valleys that are reminiscent of the Grand Canyon. When we look at the Orion Nebula whose light has taken 1,500 years to reach us at Earth, we have the amazing opportunity to glimpse our solar system which was created 4.5 billion years ago.
Notice the color variations in the image. When raw Hubble images are beamed down from the Hubble Telescope, they are black and white. The reason for this is that if Hubble's eye saw in color, the light detector would have to have red, green and blue elements crammed into the same area, taking away crucial resolution capability. Without these different color elements, Hubble will capture images with much more detail. This is known as infrared technology. Military applications include target acquisition, surveillance, night vision.
Enhanced Orion Nebula Infrared View
The next NASA image shows us a beautiful infrared image of the Orion Nebula. Just above the head of the Orion Nebula head is a gaseous pattern of light gray and pink which forms the shape of a heart. Also notice inside the heart seems to appear the letters "GOD" inscribed in the pink. The following scripture emphasizes the need to praise the LORD:
"1Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! 2Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts!, 3Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all stars of light! 4Praise Him, highest heavens, And the waters that are above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the LORD, For He commanded and they were created. 6He has also established them forever and ever; He has made a decree which will not pass away ", Psalm 148:1-6 NLT
To the author, the NASA image is GOD showing us his love for us and a call out to us to open our hearts to Him. Below are some Biblical passes referring to the "heart".
• "And I will give you a new "heart", and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh", Ezekiel 36:26, ESV
• “You know what is in everyone’s heart. So from your home in heaven answer their prayers, according to the way they live and what is in their hearts.”, Kings 8:39 NIV
• “Trust the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding", Proverbs 3:5, NIV
• “My son, give me your heart and let your eyes delight in my ways", Proverbs 23:26, NIV
We see God revealed in the events that we see, hear, and experience. However, in order for us to be able to see God when He reveals Himself to us, we must believe that He is the one who rewards those who diligently seek Him.
The following Bible scriptures describe how GOD is revealed spiritually to us:
• “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him”, Hebrews 11:6, KJV
• “These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.", 1 Corinthians 2:10, NIV
Is GOD reaching out to us as a Voice from the Heavens?
