When Two Hearts Beat As One

Even though we experienced a lot of hurt and misguidance during our time together, I had to remember what he was like before the drugs. I knew that if no one else on the earth loved me or knew my struggles, he did. I knew that if no one else understood his struggle, I did. I had siblings, and friends, but didn’t have a relationship with them like the one I had with him. It was as if God was writing us a love scene in a play and no one in the play had any chemistry but he and I.

At one point in our marriage, we didn’t know how to express love one to the other. This is why I believe that God allowed us to suffer greatly in our marriage, so that both of us would get a clear understanding of what bonding is. No matter the issue, we stuck it out and stayed together. As his wife, I always viewed him as a Champion. There was no doubt in my mind that he would be an overcomer, and I’m glad I did.

Therefore, I was not leaving him. I remembered my wedding vows when we said “In sickness and in health, for better or for worse, til death we part.” I acknowledged that this was a sickness and that it was one of the worse times of my life. But the most fascinating thing of all was the fact that I had come to realize more than anything else was that I AM MY HUSBAND’S KEEPER!!!
