Once again her sleep was restless, with much turning and twisting. She woke up suddenly, thinking she heard someone in the street. She got up quickly and went to the door, opening it.
She saw shepherds running excitedly down the street, shouting to one another. “The angels said we would find the babe wrapped in cloth, lying in a manger. Let us hurry! The stable is just down the road. Maybe the babe is there.”
The frail little lady shook her head and whispered to herself, “A babe in a manger! How can that be?”

About the Book
Follow the frail little woman in Bethlehem as she greets weary travelers and witnesses a gathering of shepherds, three wise men and a chorus of heavenly angels singing. Although she feels sad because she has no gift for the new born babe, Mary tells her that she has given the best gift of all; her love.
About the Author
Ms. Evenson is a former Sunday school teacher and retired licensed paster. She has five children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She enjoys reading and is hard at work on other writing projects. She lives in the Minneapolis area.
