Together by God's Grace

I told myself that having been together with my sweetheart for over thirty years, there was no need to fall into arguments which can mess up our vacation. We had a good time as we toured the island and went to different tourist attractions. One day, it was raining outside and we decided to stay indoors the whole day. I took out my Bible to read while in bed and Sweetheart took out his book. I looked at the cover of the book and it read, “How to Live With an Idiot”. I was so incensed by the fact that he had the nerve to read such a book in my presence. I was about to ask him why he was reading such a book since the only person he was with was myself... Later on as he continued reading the book, the thought came to me to say, if I thought I was not an idiot, then maybe he is the idiot and I am the one who needs to read that book. So I decided whenever he was not reading it, I would read it myself.... I was then pacified to know that he had gone on to the cashier to pay for the book and was trying to improve our relationship. I knew that he is the kind of person who reads the introduction and browses over the book before buying it. I then read the whole book and found out that it was actually a very educative book.

That signified to me how God’s grace was operating from both our angels. I was depending on the word of God and prayer to know how to live well with my unsaved sweetheart and he was trying to learn how to live well with me in my ways which seemed idiotic to him. Indeed God’s grace is awesome!
