What does it really mean to be broken? To be fractured or damaged and no longer in one piece, or in working order, or to have given up all hope. Have we not all felt this way at some point in our lives? Sometimes it was one major blow shattering us into a million pieces. Other times, it was many small cracks slowly breaking us down. Maybe right now you have been hit and you are falling apart or you are just feeling your purpose slowly drift from your hands. Maybe this happened recently – or maybe it was years ago. Whatever your circumstances, we were not created to live this way. Although our bodies, minds, and spirits may be attacked daily, there is a way to piece ourselves back together. There is a way to find purpose for our lives and to reignite a passion for a more meaningful life. I do not possess a magic potion or equation capable of producing a higher level of living, but I know someone who does contain the answer and I found it – more correctly stated, I found Him.
It is truly a God thing that you are reading this book right now. I never intended to write a book, nor did I feel equipped to do so. As I was sitting at home one night, God gave me the thought of writing about some of the changes I was experiencing. As I typed my past experiences for a few hours, I had no idea why I was writing or why I felt God helping me write - but it never stopped. Nine months later, I realized what he had helped me write. It was a map - a way back home to my God who loves me and who loves you. It was an escape plan from whatever had overtaken me for so long. I did not write this book as an autobiography or from the standpoint of a biblical theologian. I wrote it as a child of God, who made his way back home to Him.
As I wrote this book, I had no idea to whom it was directed or for what purpose it was intended. All I knew was that God revealed this book to me and it was written for someone who has been attacked and held captive by this present world. It was written for those who have been affected by the afflictions around them or by the choices they have made. It was written for someone looking for answers, but has nowhere to turn. It can be read in one setting or as a daily or weekly devotional. As I wrote each chapter, I felt a sense of recovery within myself. I believe each person whose eyes fall upon the words within the pages will feel the same sense of healing.
I have prayed countless nights for nothing more than for one person to read this book and it to have a positive influence on his/her life, for the words on this page to come alive and pluck at his/her heartstrings, as it did mine. Some of the chapters within this book may anger or hurt you; but I believe mostly, it will motivate and inspire you to live outside of your present life and begin walking in His light.
I dedicate this book to my Lord and Savior – who loved me despite my life having been filled with denying His presence. He kept His hand on me as I traveled farther from Him each day for years and led me back home into His arms. He gave me hope and a future unimaginable to me when my so-called life had fallen apart. I want nothing more than to proclaim His healing to every nation. If you are reading this book, know that although I may not know your name, I am praying for you. The words of this book will do nothing for you, but the God who helped me write it can do anything.
