Prince Charming

When we think about Prince Charming, we tend to think of someone who means to do us good and not harm. We think of someone who has our best interests at heart and does not deceive. We think of someone who looks good, smells like a rose, dresses well, is well-established, and has a lot to offer. We have to understand that Satan is indeed the prince of the air that Ezekiel speaks of, although he poses as Prince Charming.

Therefore, we are talking about someone who does not have horns, does not dress in red, and does not have a pitchfork in his hand. Many of us have been misled because of what we think Prince Charming looks like, failing to realize he looks like everyday people—like you and me. He has no legs other than our legs. He has no body other than our bodies. He has no ears other than our ears. He has no mind other than our minds, and no thoughts, actions, or walk other than ours. Nonetheless, he does have limited power and will enter our hearts, minds, and souls. He wears the finest of clothes and the best of the best shoes. His appearance is the same as a common man.

Every woman wants to be dating, engaged to, or married to a Prince Charming. When we look at the definition of “Prince Charming” in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, he is a man who is handsome, brave, polite, well-mannered, gracious, courteous, and respectful, to name a few of his characteristics. He would be a perfect husband or boyfriend. God created Prince Charming, also known as Lucifer, with many attributes, but being the great deceiver was not one of them; he acquired that later.

When we look at the word “charmer,” according to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 5th ed., we find it means one that charms, especially a disarmingly attractive person, or one who casts spells: an enchanter or magician and one who uses his or her personal charm to influence or persuade others. The description fits Satan so well because he looks nothing like someone whose horns may be sticking out. He does not wear a red suit or have a pitchfork in his hand. We have to realize Satan comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. He can be rich or poor, tall or short, light or dark. Satan never appears to be who we think he is. He begins to speak to us first of all in the heart of our minds as he tries to manipulate us to do what he wants us to do instead of what God requires of us.

Satan walks around 24/7 in his camouflage outfit, portraying a very attractive picture when he is trying to convince, persuade, sway, convert, or influence us that what he is saying is true instead of us listening to the still small voice of God. When we look at the definition of the word “camouflage,” according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary which means, “a concealment by means of disguise, or a behavior or artifice (pretense) designed to deceive or hide.” This portrays a perfect picture of what Satan does as the prince of the air when he dresses himself to appear to be someone he is not, knowing all the time he is really the great Enemy, Satan, the great deceiver.
