You see, God had been speaking to me through His Word. It was literally (not theoretically or figuratively) changing my life. I was not discovering God’s truth in stories, experiences, object lessons or illustrations, but in the Word itself. Of a truth-today I occasionally use an experience or an illustration to help to bring understanding to a Biblical truth, but the message from God is not the story, it is not the experience, it is not the illustration-it is the Word itself. That is God’s message.
So, to deliver God’s message, I can’t read a section of text, close my Bible, set it aside and turn to my manuscript. Boy, am I up the creek if I attempt to do this. I might bring words that are encouraging, inspirational, instructional or even challenging, but the message from God is found in the pages of His Word.
