HOW TO USE THIS BOOK
First of all, I must applaud you for making the decision to go through this journey. I strongly believe that the 31 topics covered will encourage you and aid you in being a better Law Enforcement wife. I’m sure you are quite amazing already, but I feel we can all improve in order to help our Law Enforcement Officers in this troubled world.
This book was designed with you in mind. I wanted to make this user friendly and convenient. Over the next 31 days, I encourage you to focus on who you are as a Law Enforcement wife, as well as how you support your Law Enforcement Officer. I’m sure you are a busy woman, most LEO wives are—working, running the household, raising children, etc. Therefore, I wanted each day to only take 10-15 minutes as you work through these moments of truth. Look at it as a small investment that will reward you by being a more supportive Law Enforcement wife. My wish is that you will do this for yourself and for your LEO.
Despite how religious or what denomination you are, I know this book will guide you on a journey through relevant topics to us, our LEOs, and families. I also felt it would be helpful for the Bible verses to be provided. I don’t know about you, but having two books open and flipping back and forth between them takes too much space and time. I have used the New International Version of the Bible but would encourage you to also reference your own Bible and preferred translation to read and highlight in, if you wish.
Each day is organized as follows:
Title - something catchy to help you remember the topic
Verse – a small portion of scripture relevant to the day’s topic
Reading – a page of stories and thoughts to help guide you
Prayer – a short prayer to connect with God on the day’s topic
Moment of Truth – questions and reflection area you are to complete
Action items – a short space for you to apply the topic covered
Lastly, before you get started, I want you to know that I did not hold anything back. To some readers, I might seem a bit crude or brash but I promised to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me, God! I’ll be open and honest with you and trust me, I will be more “real” with you than I am to some of my family and friends so in return, I want…no, I NEED you to be real and honest with yourself and tell the truth in order to get the most out of this journey.
I encourage you to find a quiet spot, set aside time in your day, take the time to read and focus on the day’s topic, and do the activities to help you in your important role as a Law Enforcement Officer wife. Best wishes on this 31 day journey and the moments of truth…

About the Author
Jessica Mertz is the proud wife of a military and civilian police officer. Her husband wears two uniforms: that of a South Dakota National Guard Military Police Officer, and that of a Rapid City Police Officer.Jessica is involved in her community, serves in various ministries, and is active in her church. Known as the stay-at-home mom who’s never home, Jessica’s three children keep her on the go. She enjoys a good DIY project, spending time in the Black Hills, and a little retail therapy. Jessica holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications. She is always up for a challenge and learning something new.
