It had been two months since a man named Moses saved us from some really hard times we were having in the country of Egypt. I wasn’t really sure who Moses was at first, but I saw him do miraculous, incredible things and he told all of us that he could help us with power that God gave him!
We all had to work very hard and were very poor in Egypt. It made us really sad. Then, Moses saved my family and all of God’s people from being slaves! You should have seen how happy we were when Moses freed us!
Another time, there was a lake of water that was too bitter to drink from, and we were all really thirsty. God showed Moses a tree he could use that would clean the water. It was so amazing! It was clear God wanted everyone to see He was using Moses to help us and Moses was not doing all these miracles by himself.
Moses trusted God and so God was with him. We trusted Moses, even though we had to wander and wander and wander for a long time to get the land we had been promised.

About the Book

About the Author
Jim Gribnitz has been working with families in camping and church ministries for more than twenty years. He has a master’s degree in biblical studies and a doctorate of ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has written small group curriculum with Matt Chandler, Tommy Nelson, and Mark Driscoll and is the lead pastor at Rockland Community Church in the hideously grotesque town nestled at the foot of the disgusting Rocky Mountains called Golden, Colorado. (He says that even the wild caribou and buffalo that frolic freely about his property think it’s gross there—they tell him as much while they ice skate on the frozen lake.)
Most importantly, however, Jim is a husband and father of three with a deep desire to help kids hear the truth of the gospel message. Cloudy with a Chance of Manna is his attempt to take the truth of an old, sacred story and help communicate what God wanted to communicate—that he is faithful, that he loves his people, and that his promises can always be trusted.
