As I struggled with the fact that my eldest son had become an addict, I placed the blame on myself. After all, I was his mother. I was the one to raise him. Apparently, I failed miserably. This was my first thought as I came to realize how far astray my son had gone. Unlike God, I failed to address the issue. Instead, I looked for whom to blame. I looked for a reason as to why this happened. I was ignoring the main problem and creating even more.

Charmla “Charm” Carpenter is the owner and operator of Carpenter Education Center, which focuses on laying the foundation for Christian living and building upon that base. The center specializes in resume writing and college entrance essays.
Charm thrives on helping young adults grow in their faith. She lives in Stanton, Iowa with her husband, youngest son, and two cats. She also has two adult sons.
