That day seemed especially long and tiresome for Fill-Up and Mr. McFriendly. As the townspeople drove into McFriendlys, they spoke with enthusiasm about the new 20-pump gas station and super-deluxe mini-mart being built down the road. None of this made Mr. McFriendly happy. After all, McFriendlys had been the only gas station and mini-mart in Serenity for more than 40 years. He looked forward to each day, meeting and greeting customers and discussing their families, jobs, and town events. If McFriendlys closed, he pondered, What would I do? Where would an old man like me find work? Where would Mrs. McFriendly and I go? What would happen to Fill-Up?

About the Book
The faith of both Fill-Up the gas pump and his owner, Mr. McFriendly, is tested when Mr. McFriendly's Gas Station, a town landmark, is threatened with the prospect of going out of business when building begins on the brand-new, super-size gas station up the road. They both learn, however, that God works in mysterious ways, especially for those who believe and trust in Him.
About the Author
Lekeda L. Vaughn grew up in Chicago, the fourth of eight children. She attended Catholic elementary and high schools before graduating college with a business degree. Lekeda worked in financial planning before pursuing writing. She currently resides in the south suburban Chicago area near her daughter, a middle-school gifted program educator, and her two granddaughters. Fill-Up the Gas Pump is her first children’s book.
