- Driving out of downtown Chicago alone on lake shore drive then out the Eisenhower Expressway, I got approximately 5 miles out, just past the mall, driving in the center lane, with lanes of traffic on both sides of me. It was starting to get dark, as the sun was setting in the west. I'm beginning to really feel sleepy! I began to pray! and asked the Lord for help.
"Lord I have about 4 hours more to drive and I really need your help right now to stay awake" As soon as I asked the Lord for this help, I dozed off to sleep !! I didn't even have time to get across the lanes of traffic to my right to get to an exit.
It would be another 25 miles to the exit for route #30 west to cross the state of Illinois. When I woke up and became aware of where I was, I saw the City limit sign of Rock Falls, Ill. on route #30,
I was about 35 miles from home !! I glanced at my watch and it said approximately 7:15pm.! I began to think all kinds of things, My watch must have stopped !! But not enough time has passed for one to travel approximately 120 miles.
It's still just getting dark.!! How could a person travel 120 miles, stop and eat in just the time between sunset and dark?
I Thought this is not possible! Where am I really? How could I be here? Am I really here? I kept driving and as I wondered what just happened, the Lord spoke to me and said . .."Didn't you just ask me for help?"
Then He reminded me of the scripture in the book of Matthew. chapter 19. But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26.
I actually returned home about 2-1/2 hours earlier that night, than I normally would have.
After analyzing this situation several times and not coming up with a logical answer, I finally came to the reality that God heard my prayer for help, and picked my car up and transported me over a hundred miles down the road.
Then safely put me back on the road just a few miles from home.

About the Author
Everett R. Stewart grew up as a farm boy in northwest Illinois and eventually enlisted in the US Navy. He later attended electronics, technical, and management schools and worked in technology for decades. He also developed and instructed training programs. Ultimately, he was led to ministry and found inspiration to write.
