The authors of this book are Erica Brown and Ge’Khiya Brown.
Erica was born November 19, 1971, in Monroeville, Alabama. She moved to Pensacola, Florida, when she was just nine years old. There she attended middle school through high school where she graduated in the top twenty of her senior class. She went on to attend the esteemed HBCU Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University as an elementary education major graduating with a bachelor’s degree—magna cum laude.
Erica went on to pursue a master’s of science degree in counseling psychology. She graduated with these credentials from Troy University Florida Region, also magna cum laude. Erica has also received training by way of attending seminars at Yale University Child Development Center by leadership of Dr. James P. Comer.
Erica has been employed with the Escambia County, Florida School District for the past twenty-one years. She is currently a middle school guidance counselor where she is serving in her passion to instill life lessons of love, perseverance, and academic success to all of her students. Erica is married to Elder Grover C. Brown, Jr., and together they have three beautiful children.
Ge’Khiya Brown was born December 12, 2005. She is a thriving fourth grader that has a great passion for learning. Her favorite subjects are science, math, and language arts. Ge’Khiya aspires to become an astronaut when she grows up. She has attended space camp at the Huntsville, Alabama, US Space and Rocket Center for the past four years in order to attain experience for this endeavor.
A few of Ge’Khiya’s hobbies are ballet, soccer, creative arts, and drawing. She also enjoys singing with her mom, playing video games with her dad, skating, swimming, playing with her friends, and riding her bike. She is the primary illustrator of the book.
Both Erica and Ge’Khiya love God. They are Christians and are faithful members of their church congregation. They both sincerely believe that through God all things are possible. The message that they both would like to share through this book is that people can sometimes behave as if morals and values don’t exist. In about 7,000 words, they hope that a story of this sort will captivate the attention of others in a fun and innovative way while instilling everyday life lessons of genuine morality within them.
