I Pray for Blessed Sleep

Dear God,

make me talk

so sweet,

the children early

to fall asleep.

Make their

dreams nice

and the world better

before their eyes.

Give the story time joy

to every girl and boy,

and please do

make all their wishes

come true.

As for their

grandparents,

their mom and dad—

listen to their prayers,

dear God.

Silence

Saying “I love you”

does not come easy to me.

I’d rather read into your heart

and place my words inside,

like in a poem—

divine grails filled with love

that call your name.

Saying “I love you”

does not come easy to me,

but with you in my heart,

I grow.

I Pray for Marriage Blessings

Dear God,

please come near

me and my dear.

Give us every day

the wisdom to pray

for our spouse

and help us obey

Your Word

and our vows.

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself

up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through

the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain

or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way,

husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife

loves himself.”

The Weather Together

When we love,

we guide each other.

When we fight,

we teach one another.

When we walk,

we lean on each other.

When we talk,

we listen to each other.

Only together could we grow;

otherwise it’s too slow.

Growing season ends,

and we’re covered in snow.

I Pray for Courage

Dear God,

give me courage

to throw myself

into the unknown.

Make me see

I have grown.

Give me wings

of my own.

Help me be

the way

You foretold,

in joy to behold—

being here,

having faults,

getting old ...

You Are I Am

Every pain you have

is also mine.

It shades the light

I’m here to shine.

Every joy I have

touches everyone near,

and that’s why I’m here,

that’s why we’re here ...

will try to take me to.

I breath in grace
