Read: John 17:18-26
"AS THOU HAST SENT ME INTO THE WORLD, EVEN SO HAVE I ALSO SENT THEM INTO THE WORLD".
Before Jesus went to the cross, in chapter 17 of John, Jesus prayed to His Father in Heaven. When Jesus was praying to His Father, He said, "Same as You have sent Me into the world, I send Christians into the world".
Again, Jesus prayed that Christians would be "One". This meant that Jesus was praying that Christians would love and support each other. Jesus was also saying that when Christians showed love to each other, that love would , would be a testimony to unbelievers.
God gave John the words to write the book of Revelations. When John was over eighty years old, and not able to walk, he was allowed to return to the main land. Christian men carried him through the streets. As he was being carried, John would turn his head from side to side, shouting to the people, "Love one another".
Do you think John was close to God, as he spent time on the island writing the book of Revelations? Of course he was. Every word John wrote was from God. When you are close to someone you know how they feel and think about things. John knew God's heart, therefore, he knew it was important to God that Christians love one another. Remember the Bible states that, "God is love". John was surrounded by and fillled with God's love.
If you are a Christian, who is close to God, you can't help but be filled with God's love. Love is God's main attribute. The Bible says, "Now abideth faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love". The main attribute of a Christian who is close to God is love.
It is obvious and clearly shown,; that when a Christian is close to God, they will show God's love. The closer one becomes to God, the more love they receive from God to give to all people.
In the last verse of chapter seventeen, Jesus prayed that God's love would be in Christian's hearts the same as God's love is in Jesus' heart. There is no doubt that as we read Jesus prayers for us, we can see how much He wants us to love each other.
THINK: Today, ask God to help you show His love to others.

About the Book
Imagine reading a story in the book of John and completely understanding the story and its life application for the first time. The Birth that Changed the World is written for students of all ages. This book is written for the unchurched, unsaved, or those who desire salvation and a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
It has been my privilege to know and work with Shirley Caldwell Oar, over a period of 40 years. She was a deaf interpreter at Grace Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana and University Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida in which I was the pastor. She also worked at Trinity Baptist College, as a deaf interpreter, where I was the college President. In addition, Shirley Caldwell Oar taught sign language, beginner and advanced classes at Maranatha Bible College where I was honored to be the Vice President of the college. Mrs. Oar was a very faithful worker in each endeavor.

About the Author
Shirley Caldwell Oar, BS, MS, is a former camp counselor, college professor, special-education teacher, upper-elementary teacher, and interpreter for the hearing impaired at Florida State College and Trinity Baptist College. Mrs. Oar has won numerous awards for her work with the hearing impaired. In addition, she has experience working with college-level students learning English as a second language.
