“Truth - What is Truth”? This question was most famously asked by a king who did not know the answer. He did not seek to find out and ordered the crucifixion of the only Truth. Those who do not seek, know, and follow the Truth continue to crucify Christ, The Truth.
To develop the mind on the depth and complexity of Truth one may begin by learning about truths developed by the Native American who had no formal education. They had only nature as a guide to God and His Truths, which included an afterlife. He says “listening while reading” brings Truth with unique knowledge!
They learned from nature.
“Follow a new trail to the point of knowing.” We are trained to read with our minds. We pass over words, compressing them into ideas and these ideas are the measure of our understanding.
It is a way of reading that is like listening to music. The sheer power of sound can move the hearer to tears.
The Spirit of the first people, has never died. “It lives in the rocks, forests, the rivers. It murmurs in the brooks and whispers in the trees.”
All things are connected. This is the science of “all things are relative”. The theory of relativity is in the Scriptures, All things are under God that God may be all in all. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth. Thou will return unto the ground; for out of it was thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
The rule is that thought comes before speech. It does not require many words to speak the truth.
Silence is the mother of truth. This is confirmed in the Bible.“Keep silent before Me; let all the earth keep silent before Him.” (Isaiah 41:1; Habakkuk 2:20)
“You must speak straight so that your words may go as sunlight to our hearts.”
Truth is inherent in all things. The world is a library. Its books are the stones, leaves, grass, brooks, and the birds and animals that shared, alike with us, the storms and blessings of Earth.”
Religion was the basis of all Native American training. They learned generosity to the poor and reverence for the Great Mystery, Spirit, God. Racial and religious prejudice of the other stood in the way of their comprehension.
Little Indian boys and girls in English schools came back swearing. There is no ‘swear word’ in the Native language.
They did not desire any other reward for performing a brave and worthy action, but the consciousness of having served their nation.
We need to be loved and to love. One who turns inward begins to feed on their personality. Little by little we destroy ourselves.
“Words that are true sink deep into the heart, where they remain.”
The human world is worldly minded. They forget to think about their souls and their God. The world’s motto is, “Money, money, get more money, get rich, and be a gentleman”. They fly about in every direction, like a swarm of bees in search of the treasure that already lies in their hearts.”
Death will come, always out of season.
Each man is good in the site of the Great Spirit. “And God saw everything that He had made and behold it was very good.” (Gen. 1:31)
“The Great Spirit made all men brothers.” This is noted throughout our Scriptures: (Matthew 23:8; 22:39; Romans 12:10; Hebrews 13:1; 1 Peter 2:17; 3:8; 1 John 2:10; 4:21) Native Americans saw miracles on every hand–“the miracle of life in seed and egg”. Their faith cannot be formulated in creeds, nor forced upon any who are unwilling to receive it. Their religion was an attitude of mind, not a dogma. They had no atheists. What is silence? It is like a Great Mystery. Holy silence is God’s voice. The fruits of silence are self-control, true courage, endurance, patience, dignity, and reverence. Silence was the cornerstone of character. In our Scriptures: “In your patience possess you your souls.” (Luke 21:19) Patience is associated in our Scriptures with righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness. (1 Timothy 6:11) Faith produces patience. (James 1:3) Here is the patience of the saints!
The whole life is prayer because every act is a religious act. Daily devotions are more important than food. Each soul must meet the morning sun, the new sweet earth, and the Great Silence alone.
The Native American family had a “Great Song of Creation”.
“Our education begins in our mother’s womb. She meets the ordeal of childbirth alone. All nature says to her spirit: “It is love! It is love! The fulfilling of life!” She provides spiritual teaching. If the child is fretful at night she points to the heavenly blazed trail through nature’s galaxy of splendor to nature’s God. Silence, love, reverence – this is the trinity of the first lessons, and to these she later adds generosity, courage, and chastity.” At the age of eight a boy child is turned over to the father for more disciplined training.
“The grandparents are old and wise and acquaint the children with the traditions and beliefs of the nation. They are to repeat the time - hallowed tales with dignity and authority so as to lead the child into the inheritance of the stored-up wisdom and experience of their race.” “In this children were shown that big-heartedness, generosity, courage, and self-denial are the qualifications of a public servant.” They follow that ideal from the cradle. The eldest daughter has the name of “Wenonah”, which means “Charitable One”. She must be charitable to be worthy. They are to be polite people and are to overcome the weakness of the love of possessions.
“In the woman is vested the standard of morals. She holds all the family property and the honor of the house in her hands. She is expected to be superior in spiritual insight.”
We must all be silent and listen!

About the Book
We must discover the real world. All generations are struggling for truth! Truth is our heritage and gift to the next generation, so we must support education for all people. Some generations have essentially halted progress, and others are making progress only because of a few.
In our world, we must proclaim religious and free speech. The concept of human liberty is more than 4,000 years old and is repeated by Christ Himself.
We must dare to read, think, speak, and write the truth. Truth is not only violated by falsehood, but also by silence. Ignorance produces the work of monsters. Ignorance is not bliss; it is oblivion. Ignorance is sin, not innocence.
Man is what he believes, coated by either truth or ignorance. Truth demands a basic standard of living for the masses to ensure security and freedom for their development. Man is master of his fate, but he must seek the truth. Truth is on the march, and nothing can stop it!
About the Author
Rear Admiral Joseph H. Miller (MC) USNR retired from the Navy Reserve in 1986 after 34 years (credited with nine years of active duty.) Since retirement with annual Permissive Orders he has had consecutive Navy Orders since 1952 or for 62 years. The Permissive Orders included informal visits to Navy hospitals. RADM Miller completed three years as the first reservist to serve as a Deputy Surgeon General, Pentagon, and concurrently as Commander Naval Reserve Force, Force Medical Officer 1983-1986. On active duty he served as Chief of Neurosurgery, National Naval Medical Center, and subsequently as Chief of Neurosurgery, US Naval Hospital, Da Nang, Vietnam. As a consultant to the Surgeon General RADM Miller chaired a committee of five prominent civilian leaders of neurosurgery to develop a Navy neurosurgical residency. While in the Pentagon, with Dr. Barry, he wrote and staffed the directive for the establishment of Physician Reservists in Medical Universities and Schools. (PRIMUS) RADM Miller has been to Bethesda over 100 times, Yokosuka, Japan 40 times, San Diego 24 times, Pearl Harbor 22 times, and every other Navy Hospital in the world. (For two months he personally provided neurosurgery coverage at the Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii.) He served in the Joint Chiefs of Staff (J4) war planning section as the only Flag officer. Later, at his recommendation, a Flag officer billet was established in J4. The first assignment was a Navy Reserve Flag Officer. He had duty with the Commander in Chief Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, December 1982, February 1983, and February 1984. RADM Miller’s Military decorations include: Legion of Merit, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Navy Unit Commendations, Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Navy Pistol Marksmanship, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, and Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V.
In civilian life RADM Miller practiced Neurosurgery from 1960 through December 2000. He served as Chief of Neurosurgery at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery University of Tennessee and University of Tennessee Training Director in Neurosurgery at the Methodist University Hospital. (1983-2000)
RADM Miller was Founder and Director of the Memphis Neurosciences Center at Methodist Hospital and the University of Tennessee. He developed an international academic interchange in Neurosurgery with 27 countries. He is currently on the Voluntary Faculty of USF Medical School, Tampa, Florida.
He is certified by the American Board of Neurosurgery and his memberships include: The American Association of Neurological Surgeons, The Society of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, The American College of Surgeons, The Society of Medical Consultants to the Armed Forces. Civilian activities include: Mission Service Corps, The White House, May 1978, served on the Boards of Union University, Mars Hill College, Samford University, and Regions Bank. He has researched and lectured on the Philosophy of War more than ninety times.
RADM Miller has been a Christian for 72 years, a Southern Baptist Deacon for 62 years, and taught Sunday School for 58 years. He is currently a member of First Baptist Church, Brandon, Florida. He is a 5,258-hour pilot and recently passed the course to be a Coast Guard Captain. He is married to Cathy Miller and they live in Apollo Beach, Florida.
He developed 24 Clinical Teaching Systems as a cerebral computer model. He was an invited medical lecturer 56 times and had numerous Medical Journal publications.
He is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia with an M.D. degree in 1955 and Mercer University with an AB degree in 1951. He was also a proud graduate of Ludowici Georgia High School were they were second place in the state in Basketball in 1947.

The author has traveled in many places in the world where Eternal Truth is not known!
There are three great religions of the world including Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. My recent interest is primarily Islam as an invasive religion with the sword, and Christianity which, is invasive with love. Islam is truly worldwide and one must have a worldwide vision of it. The author has traveled to and studied Islam at six of the seven continents of the world, excluding Antarctica. He has studied nations which are mostly Islamic and those that are mostly Christian.
This includes Asia: Iran, Lebanon, Israel, Turkey, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Russia, Philippines, and Indonesia. I have worked with Islamic friends from Pakistan and Bangladesh in the United States.
In Africa: Morocco, (Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, and Marrakesh), Algiers, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt.
In the Pacific: Australia, (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Exmouth), Tasmania, Wake Island, New Caledonia, Fiji (Suva), New Zealand (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch) and in Hawaii.
All over Europe including Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, the Ukraine (Kiev) and Europe Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg)
The author has four post-graduate degrees or certificates and has written extensively on academic subjects, the Philosophy of War and theology.
