As I stepped out of bed, I stood bent over, motionless, and in shock by an intense pain that suddenly attacked my back. Paralyzed by this excruciating, unbearable blow, I cried out, “My God, what is this?”
I had been painless for years, and this feeling, so savagely violent in nature, could not have been a simple coincidence. This pain seemed similar to a whiplash I had experienced before. Within an instant, several feet in front of me and away from my bed, a human figure appeared in a vision. Short in stature, wrinkled, and old, this man stood staring at me with a hard and brutal look. Bent over with a humped back, this big-headed man was dressed in a khaki shirt and shorts. As he tried to step closer to my bed, immediately Jesus appeared with his beaten and blood-stained back to me.
Almost automatically, I heard myself saying, “I serve you, back of Jesus! Look at the back of Jesus! I serve you, back of Jesus! Look at the back of Jesus!”
As I declared these words repeatedly, the wretched, hunched man turned away in fear. Trembling, he walked away, never looking at the blood-stained back of Jesus. As he slowly disappeared, the pain in my back lessened with every step he took. When he finally vanished and the image of Jesus had likewise departed, the pain completely left my body, allowing me to stand erect.

I Serve You, Back of Jesus is the true story of Lois François, a thirty-four-year-old wife and mother of four young children who struggles with lupus, an incurable autoimmune disease experienced by many people—yet known by few—that can drastically change a woman’s life. With a husband who works two jobs in order to compensate for her lack of income, Lois finds it difficult for her family to make ends meet. As if things couldn’t get any worse, she is then diagnosed with one health issue after another. This painful journey causes her to truly question God and her purpose for living. As she experiences many sleepless nights, demonic attacks, and near-death experiences, Lois, a woman who is lacking in physical strength, must find her spiritual and emotional strength in God.
Many who observe Lois’s struggles might question the reality of God. Is He as miraculous as He is often depicted? Will God help her overcome lupus or will she succumb to this deadly sickness?

About the Author
Lois François is a loving wife and mother of four who currently resides in Richmond, Virginia. She holds an associate’s degree in Christian education, and over the years she has taught, mentored, and ministered to children, teens, and adults. She is currently a small business owner and has recently founded “Love Nest”—an organization that provides services for deserving families going through crises.
