Foreword
“Lisa Norred-Pearson has shared her own walk of faith in this inspiring and easy-read book. I could read through it all at one time or just little parts each day, like a devotional. She relates questions and parts from everyday life with passages from the Bible that just make sense. Christians need fellowship and motivational encouragement and this inspires both. Sometimes the feel is so warm; it's like having a chat with your sweet southern friend over coffee.” Laura Caine, Author of “Wildflowers” and the “Men of Highland” Series.
Introduction My fellow warrior, where does your journey begin? I think my journey started when I was in a bulldozer listening to the radio and I heard this wonderful Christian lady say something about tithing our time. Oh, how I wish I could remember her name. I would love to give her a hug and say “thank you,” for helping get me started on the journey that I’m on today. She talked about if we tithe our money, shouldn’t we also tithe our time? She said to just start with five minutes in the morning, and soon we would see it turn into fifteen minutes until we would not be able to do anything without spending time with our Savior. She said that if you say you don’t have time to do that, try it, and see just how much more time your Lord gives you in that day. I’m a practical person and that just sounded practical. He provides all your financial needs (not wants) when you tithe, and wouldn’t He also do that with your time? Needless to say, I probably started out with selfish reasons or to just try it out, but then it turned into the beginning of a Beautiful Friendship. Starting out your day with the Lord is so very important my fellow warriors, and why would we dare give the Creator of time, leftover time? When you are drinking your morning coffee, open the Word, talk to the Author, and see the beautiful journey that will start in your life. I bet it will be amazing! Let me let you wonderful Christian people reading this in on a little something, if the Lord speaks to you through these words I am writing, and you tell Him no, you might as well put the book down now, until you are ready to give Him everything. I am an average person, no great talents, was never the best at anything. The only good thing in me is my Savior. That’s it. So don’t think to start your own journey or book or whatever you would like to call it, you have to be a Super Christian, nope, not at all. Read the story of Gideon. That’s me. I ask God all the time, “Lord, what do You see in me? How can I possibly do the things you ask of me?” Do you ever find yourself asking that? Well, let me tell you the answer I got; He doesn’t see my failures, my averageness, and my selfishness. He sees Himself in me, and as long as I keep telling Him “Yes”, He will continue to work with me. It truly can be as simple as that my wonderful fellow warriors.
Chapter 1 Are Your Sacrifices Acceptable?
I didn’t have any idea that I would be writing this, as a matter of fact, while writing it, I do still not quite believe I can do it. That’s okay, as long as God leads me, I will give it my all. This book got started when I was drinking my morning coffee and talking with my Savior about what I had just read in His word. I felt Him whisper in my heart to text what we were talking about to my fellow Christians and friends. I was terrified. You may ask yourself, “Why would she be scared to send a text to people she knows?” Well, I have a huge enemy out there that does not want me to encourage or help anyone have a closer walk with God. How does Satan attack me? He does it by putting fear in my heart. Praise to my Savior, He told me what was happening. I listened to the Voice that He promised me “I would know,” and sent the text. You are now probably asking, “Oh my, what was this text about?” Well, I’m so glad you asked. I guess how important it is depends on your own walk, and where you are at in that walk. To some it may be elementary; to others it may change their life, as that beautiful lady on the radio changed mine. The text was about the first chapter of Malachi. I will let you read that for yourselves, and I encourage you to do it. Don’t take my word as truth, but take our Savior’s Word as truth. In the first chapter of Malachi, God is asking His people, “Why would I give you favor or accept your offerings when you are only doing so halfheartedly?” They were sacrificing defective animals to God, animals that the governor of the land wouldn’t even accept. They were expecting God to not only accept the sacrifices but to honor it and give the people favor. Now, here is a big question for you; what are you offering to God that is defective? Is it your halfhearted praise? What about your leftover money? Or even your leftover time? People of God, I implore you to ask your Wonderful Mighty Savior to search the deep recesses of your heart and show you what is defective! Trust me; I am doing that very thing for myself. Why? Because the One who loved me first deserves no less!
