While in a deep and peaceful sleep I hear a soft still voice whispering my name. I reluctantly open my eyes in aggravation. The voice again whispers, “Angie, we need to talk.” In a state of sheer exhaustion I ignore the voice, turn over and proceed to go back to sleep. Once again, a slight touch breaks the quiet and calm atmosphere that covered my house. As I opened my eyes the voice repeated the request, stating, “Angie, we need to talk.”
As I looked at the clock in clear frustration, I wondered, why would anyone want to bond at 3:00 AM? I laid there, no longer able to sleep, but even worst the voice had become silent. Are you serious? I could not believe this. You wake me up and you do not talk. Silence continued to shadow the area but I could not drift back off to sleep.
Lying there completely annoyed the “Holy Spirit” soon revealed to me that I will not force you to do anything. An immediate state of tearful repentance overpowered my body. There I lay in extreme remorse as I realized the selfish, ungrateful, and defiant attitude I had just displayed. I thought about how He has always been there when I needed to talk with Him. How He had consistently shielded, protected, and guided me through dangers seen and unseen.
I recognized how He has always shown me that He loves me dearly and that I truly am the “apple of His eyes.” Yet, when He reached out to bond with me, I rejected Him. I put the needs and desires of my flesh before the one that covers me. I never stopped to think about how my actions may affect Him. The spirit of sacrificing for the one you love never entered my mind in my moment of self-gratification.
In a solemn state of regret I looked to God, my Lord and Savior, and asked for forgiveness. I thanked Him for giving me the opportunity to share in intimate conversations with Him. I pleaded with Him to not give up on me and to continue to mold me into the woman He so desires. Thankfully, because He is so loving and forgiving, He soon began to feed into my spirit. So please, sit back and let me share with you the details of our early morning conversation.

We often find ourselves longing to fulfill the desire for love in superficial ways. We experiment, interact, socialize, and continue to search for “love” in all the wrong places and with all the wrong people. In order to understand the depth and power of love, however, there is only one we must seek. The Lord is the only one who will be able to teach us the true definition and understanding of love.
