This book is a compilation of several messages used in the Children Altar Service part of worship. The messages are mostly biblically based ( some are from Nursery Rhymes ) and they a designed to instill biblical and ethical precepts in the children.

The public school systems generally place little, if any, emphasis on biblical and ethical training; yet such exposure is essential for the “well rounded” child. In Children: Biblical and Ethical Trainings, Dr. E. G. Sherman presents a collection of thirty six topics used in the Children Altar Call at the church where he pastors. The topics, one page in length, are selected from the Bible or Children Literature. Each message seeks to instill biblical facts and/or ethical principles. This book has a review guide at the end of the messages that can be used for family bible study and/or review by the child. It can also serve as a guide for the “Ole Back Yard” Bible study and personal witnesses to others.
Children: Biblical and Ethical Teachings is a valuable resource for a home collection of biblical resources. Additionally, members of the clergy will find it useful to gain insights for short talks and even exploring topics for sermons.
About the Author
E. G. Sherman, Jr., PhD. has earned three doctorate degrees. He is professor emeritus of Sociology, History, and Philosophy from Albany State University (GA), former Vice President for Academic Affairs at Bethany Divinity College and Seminary, Dothan, Alabama, and founding pastor of Institutional First Baptist Church , Albany, Georgia.
