I was born long ago, I guess, because I’m not like other toys. I have stitches and stuffing and a handmade face. I’m not sure I’m a toy at all, but a little blond girl with big blue eyes used to play with me and throw me up into the air… and catch me again! And again! And again. And she would giggle! Again and again! And again! She kept me with the toys in her room when she was too tired to play or when she had to go to school. But even if she was busy, or sometimes late at night, she would take a quick peek at me, and wink!

About the Author
Brenda Nowlin-Hubbard enjoyed an imaginative childhood in New Mexico, which has inspired her writing and perspective. A Wink in Time is Brenda’s first published children’s book and was inspired by a handmade monkey who was loved, lost, and found.
Ms. Nowlin-Hubbard earned two master’s degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, and works as a senior chaplain at a large hospital in the Los Angeles area.
