Early one Sunday morning Missy woke Mister up and urged him to get her mother. Missy was in labor! Missy continually yelled OUCH,OUCH,OUCH,OUCH during the delivery. She finally gave birth to their son. It was instantly understandable why Missy was so miserable. Missy had given birth to a full grown baby boy complete with body hair,eyes wide open and full whiskers! Mister, Missy and Missy's mom were in shock! What they had witnessed was a miracle. The blanket that Missy had made to wrap her new born in was comical on him. The blanket barely covered their son's legs. Mister with effort was able to slide the baby on the blanket over to Missy. He looked at his exhausted wife and asked,"Well, Missy,what are we going to name our big boy?" Missy without hesitation,looked at Mister and answered,"OUCH!" Mister looked at Missy in surprise, laughed and said,"you're right Missy," "You have named him appropriately." Mister then bent over, kissed Ouch on his forehead and said," Happy Birthday Ouch."

About the Book
Ouch is a labor of love, imagination, faith, and humor. Ouch the mouse is literally a birth miracle, because he and his mother, Missy, both survived. He was born full grown, with a heart and personality as big as his body. His parents, Mister and Missy mouse, knew that he was special at first sight, but even they did not realize what Ouch was born to give. Mister and Missy’s love of gospel music, their love for each other, and their love for the local church led this mouse family to open doors of love, appreciation, and understanding and closed doors of fear, hatred, and misunderstanding. How could a family of three mice repair a bridge of distrust centuries old between mice and men? This story affirms that our God does work in awesome and mysterious ways.

Jan is a first-time author. She has been married thirty-seven years to her husband, Woodie. She is the mother of two grown children and grandmother of five. She lives in Theodore, Alabama, and is a member of First Baptist Church Tillmans Corner.
