If They Only Knew; But God

I could not understand the fact that everyone that talked with my mom on this day noticed that she was doing great and now she has turned for the worst. It cannot be true; this cannot be happening to me. Dr. Joe Williams returned to the ICU waiting area and replied to our family, “You were given the wrong information. Your mother was never going to be transferred to the floor. I am going to leave her on the vent machine for 2-3 days to let her lungs rest and then take her off the machine.” I was allowed to go into the ICU area to visit with mom after Dr. Joe Williams had placed her on the vent machine. While in the room Nurse Al Smith and the oncoming shift nurse began to conversate. Mr. Al Smith stated, “The medications are all caught up and she has been started on Solumedrol.” The other nurse replied, “She should have been started on that medication before now.” After the nurses left the room, I immediately began to cry and talk to my mother. I apologized to her for allowing her to be put in Parkway Medical Center when I knew she did not feel safe. When standing beside my mother’s bed looking down at her with that tube in her mouth and eyes closed unable to talk to me, I really became fearful and upset because at that very moment I had no idea of what was going to happen from this very point. While standing beside my mom’s hospital bed I immediately began to pray and have a conversation with God. I said “Lord this is my mom and I know that you see and you know that I have no control over this situation, but God I know that you can and that you are able to do more than me. Therefore, God, I am leaving my mom’s situation and condition in your hand please have mercy on her and work it out for her and me.”
