The Lost Family of Jesus

'Yeshi, although also, of course, unmarried had understood women (perhaps partly due to having two sisters!) but all his life treated women with great respect almost bordering on deference but with gentleness even when dealing with irritable old ladies in pain. That Mary Magdalene had the immense privilege of being the first of anyone to meet him after his resurrection is astounding as one would have thought the apostles would have been in that position. So many times the natural tenderness in his voice towards us and his mother was so helpful and reassuring when difficult circumstances brought us to the verge of tears, even in severe drought or the news that Roman soldiers were nearing our village or at the death of a near and dear friend and neighbour. Always he urged us to trust in Father God and tell Him our fears and not forget to thank Him for all that He had done for us in the past and was constantly doing. I try to remember this and recall his lovely voice and the dear, familiar 'country' accent he had and laughingly exaggerated sometimes, especially to strangers passing through. Occasionally a little light mischief would be seen in this gentle way and he knew this made us all smile and we would join in the joke.'
