The girls steered past the old faded barn with aging horses quietly grazing, endless orchards of lemon, orange and lime trees. They passed the dark groves of giant avocado trees, and in the distance could smell the sweet fragrance of the grapefruit trees. Old tarnished tractors, on their day off, sat noiselessly as the girls journeyed forward.
Not wanting to waste precious time on areas already explored, Heidy and Catherine drove to the north part of the Ranch. They knew the Ranch perfectly and would spend countless hours exploring. To their amazement they spotted an undiscovered trail. There was a chain barricading the path and an old rusty sign warning “No Trespassing!” Silently, they looked upon the sign as if it was a magnificent gift. Although they knew that they shouldn’t proceed, that this trail was not part of the Ranch, and it would be disobeying their parents if they continued, the idea of a new discovery outweighed thoughts of possible consequences. No one would find out, they assured each other.

About the Author
Catherine is a Southern California native, who is married to her highschool sweetheart, has three beautiful children, three comical dogs and a chicken that loves car rides. Between book projects, Catherine offers her time and heart to working with Hospice patients. She also loves the beach, enjoys reading, writing, knitting and consuming entirely too much coffee. While attending La Sierra University, an English Professor immediately saw Catherine’s potential, and helped her achieve her dream of becoming an author. In her busy, entertaining, child-filled life, Catherine continually gets herself into hilarious situations, which often sets the stage for her creativity.
