About the Book

Everything Real is a book of poems packed with real-life experiences of a young girl growing up and finding her way to the loving arms of God. The poems speak of times of hardships to times of joy. Everyone, young and old alike, can gather inspiration from such a book.

Must Have Meant Something to Me

I walked into a place of darkness,

Full of guilt and shame.;

It seemed like every time I tried to serve the Lord.

The devil screamed my name.;

I asked the Lord what He wanted with me.

After all, who was I?

The Lord answered me and said,

“You are the apple of my eye.”

Jesus reminded me of the time in the Bible

When He calmed the sea.

Jesus called my name

And told me all He had done for me.

As unworthy as I think I am,

He disagrees persistently.

He says, “I died on the cross for you,

So you must have meant something to Me.”

About the Author

I am Amanda Lynn Ives. I’m a 28-year old native of Cumming, Georgia. I have been writing poetry since I was eleven years old. My great- grandmother was a big inspiration to me. Every day she wrote in her journal. She kept up with everything. It is amazing really. Even though she has went on to be with Jesus, it is like I am still visiting her when I get lost in her books. I have always been interested in artsy things, such as writing, singing, sewing/crocheting, and music. I like the idea of leaving something behind that came from the heart of me. My poems are a big part of that, in my opinion.

It’s amazing to be able to go back to something that I wrote sixteen years ago. It’s funny to me to read the poems that I wrote when I was eleven compared to the ones that I write now. What a big difference. It’s like watching my own self grow right before my eyes.

My poems are about love, life, and God, who makes love and life possible. I hope my poetry can help and encourage people. Just because it feels like it, we are never alone.

God Bless,

Amanda Ives
