About the Book

“If I can do it, you can do it; if Tommie can do it, we can do it!”

Remember Tommie’s four b’s and the quote he lives by: Be confident, be determined, be motivated, and be yourself!

“I cannot walk in my future with my foot in my past.”

Children Version of the Book A dark Journey to a light future Written By Tommie Mabry This is the true story of the experiences of a young, African-American child, destined by God—fighting against the status quo of his violent and discouraging surroundings—to walk in the path of greatness. This is the story of Tommie Mabry—a boy who discovers that he can rise above his surroundings and situations to be the man that God intended him to be.

About the Author

Tommie Mabry, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, has four brothers and one sister. He was the first person in his family to finish high school. Tommie was always considered a trouble maker, having been kicked out of every elementary and middle school he attended. During most of his youth, Tommie was in and out of detention centers. He sustained a gunshot wound that he claims was his wake-up call, forcing him toward the right path. Tommie went on to finish college, where he was elected Mister Tougaloo College. Tommie Mabry now lives by his motto: “I cannot walk in my future with my foot in my past.”
