MAINTAINING CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
As we continue this study, we will be using two important phrases that will help us determine what is NEW INFORMATION and what is ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
The “Little Book” begins with the breaking of the 1st Seal in Chapter 6:1, and ends with the 6th Trumpet of Chapter 9:13-21. Chapter 10:2 says, “And he (an angel) had in his hand a Little Book Open:” And even though the 7th Trumpet has not yet sounded, it says in Chapter 10:7, “But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished”.
Also, as best I can determine, the “Little Book” is an outline, in Chronological Order, with one condensed view of the time period the “Little Book” covers. Then many of the chapters after that are going to be ADDITIONAL INFORMATION mixed with NEW INFORMATION that gives a broader view of a prior subject in this outline which I will move to a more logical place according to CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. By adding this additional information when and where it is needed, we get a much broader picture of what the outline scriptures are telling us.
So far, as we began the study of the “Little Book” in Chapter 6:1, we have covered the four horses and their riders, which were Seals 1 through 4. Then the 5th Seal was the ‘Souls Under the Altar’. As we now arrive at the 6th Seal, Chapter 6:12-17, verses 16 and 17 tells us that the ‘Wrath of the Lamb’ has come. How can this be if we have no record of his birth?
If there is any record of Jesus birth here in this “Little Book” time period, then we should enter that information before we begin discussing His wrath in order to MAINTAIN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. As we look through this book of Revelation, we find the only mention of his birth is in Chapter 12:1-6 below.
CHAPTER 12:1-6 ‘JESUS BIRTH & ASCENSION’
1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars;
2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
6 And the woman fled into the wilderness where she has a place prepared of God that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
COMMENTS: This description of the male child in 12:5 above says “he would rule the nations with a rod of iron” is also found in 19:15.
We know that this is referring to Jesus because 19:16 also says “and he has on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
While we are explaining this scripture, we should also establish who the woman is that is giving birth to Jesus. She was clothed with the sun, and had the moon under her feet and had a crown of 12 stars. If you will read Genesis 37:1-10, you will have the background for the following scripture in Gen. 37:9-10, “And he (Joseph) dreamed another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said ‘I have dreamed another dream, and behold, the sun and the moon, and the eleven stars made obeisance (bowed down) to me’. And he told it to his father, and to his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said unto him, ‘What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and brothers bow down ourselves to you to the earth?”
This scripture substantiates that the woman who gave birth to the child in Rev. 12:1 is the nation Israel who produced Jesus and that Jesus is the child who has now come to earth as a flesh being.
Read Hebrews 10:1-18, notice verses 5-7 was quoted from Psalms 40:6-8, explaining that God prepared a flesh body for Jesus, so his blood could be shed for all human sins forever, never again having any need for the shedding of animal blood for remission of sin.
Then in Hebrews 2:14 “Forasmuch then as the children (humans) are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself (Jesus) likewise took part of the same; that through death he (Jesus) might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil.”
We have entered the scripture that tells us when and how Jesus came to earth as a flesh being. Also Chap. 12:1-6 is part of the ‘Little Book’ because it gives us the description of Jesus birth and ascension. Also, it happened before John received Revelation and we now have it in Chronological Order. Notice that Chap. 12:6 is a duplicate statement of 12:14 just worded differently with additional information.
Now we can discuss the only reference, in my opinion, of his life and ministry on earth, because that, also, must be established before we can go to the 6th Seal in Rev. 6:12-17 and begin a study of the ‘Wrath of the Lamb’.
The reason his life and ministry on earth should be entered here, is because his death was necessary in order to defeat Satan’s rule over the earth, and his death would logically come after he had completed his life and ministry and before He ascended. I believe that is in Rev.11:3-12, which discusses the Two Witnesses.
