Cutting off a branch will not erase the problem; killing the entire tree from the roots will. Branches can grow back once they’re cut off, but when you kill the tree at its source, you can replant a new one from seed. We haven’t dealt with an issue if we barely dusted the surface but neglected the issue that is deeper than the visible wound.
I picked on my sores to avoid dealing with whatever issue I was facing; it was my coping mechanism. The reason we let our ghosts live on is because the branches look less intimidating that the roots. If we convince ourselves that our problems are just on the surface, like a sore, we don’t have to dig deeper to the real reason we are the way we are.
God wants us to be free, and although the roots look intimidating, remember that we do not work by sight. Goliath looked intimidating, but you know what brought him down. God can do anything. He wants us to be free, so we should let Him truly heal us so we can move on in our journeys.

The definition of perfection from human lenses is often viewed as a straight line, and walking in anything that appears less than can cause a series of doubts. In Journey to an Expected End, you will learn how curved roads don’t mean misplaced purpose; they are often a sign of God’s unending love that will preserve the heart of man until He returns.
About the Author
Ufuoma Michelle Ziregbe is a young entrepreneur, speaker, writer, and blogger who graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Born in Nigeria, she moved to the United States at the age of sixteen after briefly living in the United Kingdom. Michelle has always had a passion for writing, and began her blog As The Spirit Leads in 2012 which has touched the lives of people across the world. She received her call to begin writing her book shortly after, when God showed her a dream concerning His plans to use her words to touch people’s lives. Her interests include writing, spoken word, cooking, and travelling. She currently resides with her family in Ohio.
