About the Book

The battle for the souls of men is fierce and the battle line is drawn. Global Union Pentecostal Ministries (a.k.a Solution Arena) is the Church of the Moment. The church is marching on, but Capone Diabolos, the gate keeper of hell, is not folding his hands.

The church hierarchy, led by Bishop Charles Richmond, has been infiltrated and many are deceived. The quest for power, position, and prosperity, as well as the focus on miracles, signs, and wonders, has left the church bereft of true disciples. But who will defend the church from the enemy within?

The tares and wheat must come to harvest and every man will be rewarded accordingly, for God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.

About the Author

Pastor Chidiebere Nwokeocha is the pastor in charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God—Eternal Life Parish, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. He is also the team leader of Campus Evangelism and Outreach (CEO). He holds a BEng from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, an MSc in engineering from Ahmadu Bello University and an MBA from Enugu State University of Technology Business School. He is an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He is also an alumnus of the executive programmes of London Business School and the International Institute of Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He is married to his best friend Onyinye Chidiebere-Nwokeocha and they are blessed with four children.

through. Bishop, I would suggest that from time to time you pay unannounced visits to these small churches to see things for yourself. Even the council members and your special assistants shouldn't know about the visit so there is no chance that the pastor you're going to visit will know you're coming. People are going through a lot. Forget the Christianese we tend to speak. And the current way of planting churches with little or no support must stop. Why should we spend two hundred billion to build a thirty-million-man city when to plant a new church we spend little or nothing? We really need to consider what is important here and not do things simply to be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records!'

Utilising his artistic expertise, the author firmly decries the ossified anomalies in our contemporary churches, being aided by those in the higher echelons, and whose objectives for being in church are completely at variance with the principles enshrined in the Christian Constitution ? the Bible.

I seriously commend the writer for being unreservedly audacious in his bid to ensure the people are emancipated from the ongoing carnage which is championed by the overly desperate Capone Diabolos and his numerous agents throughout the world. But humanity is anathema to truth, and so counter-reactions may well fly from all directions like missiles. Whilst these missiles fly in, the question to be answered is simple: for how long shall this garment of self-delusion remain on our backs whilst we strive for a place in eternity?

I congratulate the author on this publication. His attempt to dabble into dramatic literature bears propitious signs. Indeed, reading him has improved my own literary imagination and artistry.

The production is of the highest quality, and the editor(s) was very well in the mood whilst carrying out a surgical operation on the book.

Quite an engaging book! Couldn't put it down from the moment I started to read till I finished it. It is a message to the Church today and has the echo of the words of Christ to the Church in the book of Revelations.

"In CHURCH OF THE MOMENT, the author aptly captures a plethora of monumental defects in Christendom where Biblical principles and objectives, in most churches, have sadly been crumpled into the bin and replaced with a spirited pursuit for material acquisition.

Playwriting is a tricky terrain; the creation of captivating dialogue, action and the sustenance of suspense are only few of the delicate devices that a playwright must skilfully employ to keep his reader/audience arrested. CHURCH OF THE MOMENT passes this test excellently. It is unputdownable, and the author's ability to create suspense from the very first page is a rare quality in the contemporary literary landscape of Nigeria where the proliferation of tired fiction by non-gifted artists now poses a stern threat to Nigerian literature in its entirety.

The book consistently reminds me of Authol Fugard's 1972 work, published under the title: 'Sizwe Bansi Is Dead', in which the end of the play, somehow, happens to become the beginning. This technique is skilfully employed in CHURCH OF THE MOMENT ? the symbolic football match between the White Saints and The Blood Devils is abruptly interrupted to temporarily pave way for a newscaster to deliver her heart-rending news, from where the author further throws us into a cloud of suspense! Pastor Chidiebere, who now doubles as a playwright, has indeed made a loud statement with the publication of this book. The author's imagination is stunning, and his voice is authoritative. It surges forth with an extraordinary self-confidence that is rare in debut works.

The scenes are considerably long but this never creates any boredom as the reader is unconsciously lured away from his familiar territory into the author's fictional world in which he created characters and imbued them with lines so powerful and so artistic that the reader is left with no alternative but to relish the mental images long after parting ways with the book.
