Is Praise What You Do?

Every person is called to the sanctity of relationship, daily: relationship with family, friends, neighbors, fellow church-goers, co-workers, people with whom we pass by, and with our God.  What we say and how we say it helps steer the course of those relationships.  Relationships with fellow humans are conceivably easy because we can see, hear, and touch a loved one.  Faith in a relationship with God is more complex because we cannot see, nor can we touch Him.  Many believers pray, praise, and worship but experience mixed results.

Is praise what you do?

Be of good courage.  You are on the right track.

A Christian life that is focused around praise is a life that deliberately and purposefully seeks to communicate with the Living God and, therefore, be in His presence.  A life of praise sends the message that "God I acknowledge that you are alive and that you are there."  Praise, as a manner of communicating with God, involves expressing favorable views of Him.  Communicating with God by way of praise should make our lives exciting because when we praise and worship we manifest the reality of the true and Living God.  

          The reality of the Living God is the most potent aspect of our faith, which indelibly distinguishes us as believers.  God is alive, and He invites us to dine with Him in praise and worship as a part of an awesome, thriving relationship.  

With all of this, it is entirely possible to live the Christian "way of life" and be otherwise detached.  You can busy yourself in some capacity of ministry and still miss out on a vibrant relationship with the Living God.  You can serve as an usher, a devotional leader, grounds keeper, or Sunday school teacher, but you still must praise.  

Nothing takes the praise and worship; not accepting Christ, not baptism, not good works, nor spiritual gifts.

Is Praise what you do? 

First, Isaiah set the record straight when he revealed: "Everyone who is called by my name, whom I have created for my Glory." 

We give God glory by way of praise and worship.

        Next, King David said, "Let everything that has breath praise the LORD."   This emphatic command leaves no room to run and hide.  We must praise, and we must do so with the source of our breath:  our mouths. 

Apostle Paul said, that “everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for his glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen.”

Our role in a godly relationship is to glorify God.   We glorify God with the distinct acts of praise and worship.  Praise evidences our willing participation in a relationship with God.  Relationships are defined by blood, adoption, contract, commitment, or devotion.  Once we are born again into the family of God, we are connected by all of these:  the blood of Jesus, adoption, and a love that compels us to draw close to God in praise and in worship.  With praise, we compliment God for who He is, His attributes, His names, and His mighty acts.  Praise is the audible, visible, and physical expression of our love for God; while worship is awe and contemplation of God by bowing down the head or knees in humble adoration and surrender.  The acts of praise and worship admit us into the Presence of God.  

No, we cannot see God but when we praise God with words that compliment who He is, His attributes, His names, and His mighty acts, He responds with His undeniable presence.  God’s presence is the reward of our faith in who He is, and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.  In considering these words, we should never underestimate the power of passionate praise, or the worth of worship.
