Abigail loved to skip along the stone pathway through the garden and smell the blossoms and pretend she was dancing on a stage filled with flowers. She even liked to walk very slowly with her back straight and tall and dream it was her wedding day. She could even imagine the handsome prince waiting for her beside the fountain at the end of the path. However, the thing she liked most about the garden was that it was the special place she spent time with her father. The King would walk with Abigail through the garden and talk with her about everything a little girl would want to talk about.
One day as Abigail was playing in the garden, the little princess thought it would be a wonderful idea to gather some of the flowers and take them to her room inside the castle. She wanted to be able to see the flowers all the time, not just when she was in the garden.
Abigail ran inside to find her father. She raced through the castle calling for her father. As always, the King was waiting to hear his little girl’s voice. As soon as Abigail called him he came to meet her. The King picked her up and held her in his arms.
“Daddy, Daddy, I have the most amazing idea!” Abigail cried.
“What is your idea, Dear One?” the King asked with a smile.
“If I pick the flowers from the garden, I can bring them inside with me and see them and smell them even when I’m not in the garden. Isn’t that wonderful? May I please pick some flowers? Please?”
The King looked lovingly at his precious child and smiled at her excitement. He put her down on the floor and knelt in front of her. The King looked into Abigail’s eyes.
“Sweet girl, it would truly be wonderful for you to pick some flowers and bring them in the castle.”
“Oh, thank you Daddy!” Abigail exclaimed.
“Wait,” the King replied.

About the Book
Princess Abigail loves her father and the beautiful flowers in his garden. When the king gives his daughter specific instructions about the flowers in the garden, Abigail decides to disobey him. What will happen to her, and how will her father react? Princess Abigail and the Rose is a tale about a young girl who learns that there are consequences to disobedience and that her father has rules for a reason. The story is also an allegory of the fall of man and the redemptive love of Christ.
About the Author
Brandi has been writing stories in her head since she was a little girl. When her oldest daughter was small, she asked Brandi to tell her made-up stories at bedtime. This is where Princess Abigail and the Rose began. It was meant to teach her Abigail a lesson in obedience and became an allegory of the fall of man and Christ’s redemptive love and sacrifice. Brandi has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and a lifetime teaching certificate for elementary and early-childhood education. She has taught in the public school setting for several years and now homeschools her three daughters. She is also the director of children’s ministries at Vansickle Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas, where she lives with her husband and daughters.
